Worrying... on 22:02 - Aug 28 with 2457 views | Bluedandy | No bedwetting please from the anti-bedwetters ... because the result is extremely annoying, but it's hardly disastrous. Throw a bunch of strangers together and over 90 minutes they play unsurprisingly like a group of players who have never played together. Big plus tonight was Clarke ... he is seriously, seriously good. Delap upfront on Saturday with Szmodics, Hutchinson and Clarke tucked behind ... we will cause the Cottagers plenty of problems.

There was probably at least one player in the starting XI tonight who hasn't even trained with the squad yet.

Worrying... on 22:34 - Aug 28 with 2097 views | itfckenty | I don't think some people understand football, you can literally have a team full of Mbappes, but if they don't know tactics, positions, team mates position, mind reading, and every other general stuff that makes a team click together, you'll still have a good chance of losing. That's one reason why the team have been so formidable over the last few seasons, as they just 'know' where they all are and their job on that pitch. Otherwise what's the point in having a manager/coach We'll get there, will take time but it will.

Did you see the start of the game? We were there. It was a great start. And then it all drifted away. I'm not sure whether the 'gel' argument really holds water considering the first 15 minutes, where we looked like a unit.

Yeah, watched the whole game. I wouldnt say we started as a unit at all - all subjective of course, but personally.. I didnt see us play our normal style of football at all.. but that comes with the territory of having quite a new faces - things can drift away very quickly, I see glimpses of very good football, but not consistently. Which is where our downfall was. Usually, we have a set style which leads to grit and determination. but that was obsolete today. Most of these players won't be in the starting 11 week in week out anyway, but the ones that will be showed some promise. Jack Clarke being one.

I'd say McKenna is hoping that O'Shea, at least one of Phillips or Cajuste and Clarke will step up. I suppose that is only three from the eleven. Ogbene may have a role too, though hard to judge him considering he only joined this morning.

Yeah I agree, in time I think O'Shea will be heavily involved. I think Phillips will take some time, bit rusty to be expected but I'd imagine at the moment he will be more a sub, Clarke will definitely be involved more than not. And Ogbene will most likely be involved, but I'd imagine he will be 2nd to Burns once his back fit. Casjuste will most likely take Luongos spot over the season. I think for Fulham, we'll see a like for like line up again City.

I wouldn't be surprised if Clarke came in for Johnson, otherwise I expect it to be the same XI as played City. Especially as O'Shea played 90 minutes tonight - if Woolfenden had come on for him in the second half I'd have believed he was being saved for Saturday.

Quite possibly, with a swap in the 2nd half - just depends on if his ready. Should be good on Saturday either way!

It was a great start but we never looked like a unit. We passed it around comfortably at the back and looked reasonably comfortable in the middle passing it sideways for all of the first half. We won a corner early on and it was a great delivery and nicely put away - but you don't have to be much of a unit to score from a two-touch set piece.

In which case..... don't you think that's a bit silly?. Or, at least, up for discussion. Why do you have to have 6 debutees? Why not try and win this game and introduce players from the bench? There are some over-the-top comments from so-called 'bed-wetters' but don't try and hide behind those few to stop the many more rational fans showing their annoyance. I'm starting to get really fed up with these "anti-bed-wettiing" posts .... they seem so contrived and looking to show how cool and knowledgeable they are compared to lesser mortals.

POB, not sure why you're referring to the opening 15 minutes as a sign that the rest of the game should have been easy. For me, Wimbledon were quite open at the beginning, so we didn't have to do much to get in, when you look at the Johnson, Ogbene balls for example, Wimbledon were all over the place. Once they got organised you're then at the stage where you need to play well to break them down, and this is where we went into a shell a bit. You could see some lofted balls which in time will look like excellent placed passes, but 1 - Al hamadi didn;t read them, and a few went over for Townsend and he had actually starting moving backwards instead. All these things will improve in time. You speak of the unit, we remained a unit throughout, it was well organised, the problem was players didn't understand their roles with a fair number of our attacking phases of play, chaplin was looking for an on running ogbene, who wasn't there. Clarke was needing an overlap which never came. Townsend put in some crosses to players who hadn't made the box etc etc. I've never seen so many lofted crosses into the box, that's not ipswich, we don't loft balls into the box. It needed it for us to get that 2nd goal so of course its helpful, but it's not very ipswich like at all during normal minutes of play.
