I remember that from the early 80's too. Even as a kid it struck me as odd. Was it unique to us as entrance music?
Yes, I remember it being played as walk-out music in the early 1970s & even as a teenager, I expected Coco the Clown & some acrobats to come trotting out. I don;t recall any other club using it.

I LOVE Metallica and this would be awesome. Can’t imagine the olds being too keen though.

I'm 52 & it's rock & metal (& blues) for me, hands down, over any/all other genres all day long & forever No other genre will ever have any hope of ever getting anywhere near touching it
This is NOT my opinion
It's fact
It's absolutely not age related or restricted
Get rid of Faithless
Paul Mariner's favourite was Deep Purple, so something from them like Stormbringer (although, not their latest "Lazy Sod")!
Metal!
🤘
COYB's!

Quite a few of the team in that era were/are metal fans
Ian Gillan was a good friend of Marras. He appeared on stage with Deep Purple a couple of times too! PM was also mates with Brian Johnson and the Youngs. Football, Metal, the guy lived my dream life (still my Number 1 all time football hero player (Sir Bobby also a hero to me too))

I almost wrote to the club last season with this suggestion. Not to walk out to - but close to kick-off. It was purpose written for a sport crowd (more NFL):

"Can’t imagine the olds being too keen" - I'm 71 and our generation invented Metal, grew up with Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, AC/DC... Metallica are respectable pretenders to the Throne, so Enter Sandman is fine by me! (remember we had this inflicted on us at FPR in the 60's and 70's - )
We should have played that from the back end of Micks reign until McKenna was appointed.
Not just pre game either, it would have worked perfectly fine being played during most games in that period too. We could still use it for cup games against lower league opposition.
My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.

This would have suited Mick's last season as manager.
I'm always amazed at the amount of enthusiasm on here for heavy metal and other sorts of guff head banger music. Is it a TWTD thing or a wider Ipswich/Suffolk thing?
