These are the headlines to articles in today's Telegraph, and this goes on day after day.

Not even CCHQ could match this. And whilst it's fun to see how paranoid they all are, does the paper not care about the mental health and sanity of its mainly elderly readers, who will be snorting into their G and Ts?

The state will take back control of people’s lives, says Starmer

Starmer took £20k for accommodation so son could sit GCSEs ‘undisturbed’

Why Sue Gray is a hypocrite – according to those who worked with her

Why Labour’s ‘aggressive’ attack on pensioners will ruin lives

Starmer’s slip-up shows how little he cares about Israel’s hostages

Starmer must declare war on the unions, or they’ll destroy him

When the last pub calls last orders it will be time to die

The fun police are back, and they’re ready to make our lives even more joyless

Just three months in, Labour has shown it has no inkling of how to support business

Clueless Starmer is blind to the scale of disaster to come

Who in Labour will speak for those with a lifetime’s work behind them?

Miliband is poised to wreck Britain – Starmer has little time to rein him in

Forget easy answers – Labour has no answers at all

LOL, why would you read the Tory graph? Like the Sun, Mail and Express, they don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

i think it's good to try and understand why people think the way they do. reminding people of the daily indoctrination that the right wing press feed into people's minds is useful.

(glad i don't have to do it though!)

Why would an elderly telegraph reader be worried about anything starmer does. They are two rich to GAF about labour and their policies.

As for their mental health. The telegraph is reinforcing the indoctrinated thoughts if the reader already so that makes no difference

The Telegraph does not even pretend to be a serious newspaper any more. It's a comic for pseudo-MAGA loons.

Even as a (normally) conservative voter who is concerned about ever encroaching nanny-statism, I can see some of those are a bit silly.

I like the Telegraph's football coverage and have taken advantage of a subscription offer for this reason. But will likely not renew when this offer expires.

I have a free subscription to the digital paper through a friend and like to skim through it to see their take on things.

The crazy thing with it is that reading it before Labour came to power, you wouldn't have thought there had been a Tory government these last 14 years. And all it seems to manage to do is boost the Reform vote to the detriment of the Tory party, thus ensuring such a large Labour landslide.

not that it's anti labour, it's more the scare tactics, lies and inaccuracies, in a paper which used to have higher journalistic standards

Does anyone read the Daily Star?

I noticed their front page headline in a shop yesterday... at the top it had "Flash Flood Hell", which is fair enough. But their main picture was the back end of a car sticking out of flood water, with the main headline "It's Booty McBootface!"

Not only is this utterly insensitive (to either the owner of that car, or indeed anyone suffering from the "flood hell") but it doesn't even make any sense. At least some of the puns in the likes of The Sun have been clever. This one I just can't get my head around. And this is their front page - the best way they could think of attracting buyers. Astonishing!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I see the headline everyday because the front page of all the papers is on the BBC news website.

Leaving aside whether this front page is appropriate, they have gone down the jokey front page for some time, perhaps starting with the Liz Truss lettuce.

Joking about Liz Truss and a lettuce is fair enough, and actually sort of makes sense.

This was not only insensitive to flood victims (who were in "flood hell" by the paper's own admission), but the "joke" just doesn't work - other than it was the boot of a car. The naming of a boat by the public (Boaty McBoatface) has no correlation to this story, other than "boot" sounds a bit like "boat". It's just really odd!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

The Telegraph seems to disappeared up its own ring piece over the last 10 years (maybe earlier, but I wasn't paying attention). It's almost as fantastical now as the Daily Sport was. if nothing else, you have to credit the columnists for having a well developed sense of imagination. It's utterly unreliable as a source of information though.

I'll play a game: without looking, I'll try to guess the columnist for some of those headlines...

"Starmer must declare war on the unions, or they’ll destroy him"
Barking Sherelle Jacobs?

"Just three months in, Labour has shown it has no inkling of how to support business"
that Jeremy Warner bloke?

"Clueless Starmer is blind to the scale of disaster to come"
that has to be mad Alister Heath

"Who in Labour will speak for those with a lifetime’s work behind them?"
Possibly to the turncoat ex labour politician -something Harris?

Edit: I've just marked my work - very disappointing performance.

Yes - I'm not a natural Telegraph reader but years ago used to read a second hand copy. Even though I disagreed with much of the editorial line, their argument was made in a relatively serious, civilised way. It's noticeable that even ex editor Max Hastings has distanced himself from the papers views, and that it is now a haven for shrill, populist - even unhinged - columnists more likely to pop up on GB News than Radio 4. Less the Torygraph and more the Reformograph.

They're terrified of a prospective Leveson II, the PPE/Covid investigations and also the possibility of closing of non-dom tax loopholes. Both the owners of the Mail and the Telegraph don't pay any UK tax.

In fact, wasn't there something about the Daily Mail company being actually registered in somewhere like Bermuda to avoid UK tax?

Does anyone except the swivel- eyed loons read it anymore.

I used to read it to provide another perspective to my current affairs consumption, until , and I think it was around 2016, it stopped being a serious paper reporting events and instead became nothing more than right wing opinion rag.
