Most of the good things we do in the final third goes through him. He's looking really good, but does he have a tendency to hold onto the ball for a bit too long sometimes, is that fair?

Yes definitely, I said coming out of St Mary’s last week I wish he’d make a pass a bit quicker/sooner.

Some things didn’t come off but there were some important moments in the transition when he held the ball up well under a lot of pressure.

Not sure if this is backed up in the stats but he seemed to cover the most ground today. His pressing was absolutely relentless - phenomenal effort, his work rate was second to none.

Fortunately he passed at the exact correct moment for the second goal.

His fitness levels are insane, same with Davis, there's just no drop-off to the final whistle. They both get through so much work in a game.

I think he might have been trying a little too hard in one or two of the early games, but last week (particularly) and this he's a bit more relaxed and doing some very good stuff. When he truly realises he's a danger to all PL defenders, he'll push on even more and start to cause real havoc. His ability to do all sorts of turns, with his body balanced and the ball stuck to his feet will scare the sh!t out of even the best defenders. His belief is growing quickly.

An exciting talent, has an incredibly bright future, but as he did when he stepped into the Championship, has a lot of development still to adapt to PL football.

I think he’s been quite fustrating over the last few weeks, and at times been poor.

I have said before, staggering what has happened to Chaplin since we’ve stepped up to the PL, don’t personally agree with his lack of involvement.

It’s not staggering really, his form in the second half of last season was 6/10 (being generous)
This is a ruthless business, and when you look at the physical specimens we are up against I just don’t see CC as being quick/athletic enough to warrant more game time.

Let's be fair here if Chaplin performed in training he'd be getting minutes. Maybe he just hasn't shown that level required to be involved. No all players can be prem quality. There were many champ games where chappers maybe scored or didn't score and we didn't get much else from him. If he's showing that in training then no he won't get games.

The door is always open however and like taylor has shown its very easy to turn things around and get back involved

But honestly the thought of Chaplin in the prem doesn't seem plausible as much as we love the person he is.

I feel like all the players are often holding onto the ball too long, which partly will be from still learning how each other plays and how to predict their runs & movement, but also the lads knowing we can’t afford to give the ball away as often as we could get away with the last two seasons. This will improve. I thought Omari put in a good performance today, and agree that he seems to be relaxing into his new surroundings game by game. That second half was so much fun.

It's a whole different game trying to skill past a prem player. I think Omari is still figuring out when and how to do it it. To be expected. He'll carry on improving.

Omari has been doing fine, just needs to be a fraction faster with his decision making as he approaches the box.

Omari is a fantastic player and just 20 years years old. He’s learning all the time. Ok, his decisions are not always the best, but he tries things constantly. He was heavily marked again yesterday but rarely lost the ball from often the tightest of spaces. It’s a privilege to watch him and to watch him develop.

Mick Mills on RS suggested Clarke on the left, Delap in the middle with Szmodics behind and Omari in the right. Hutchinson can play there of course, but is that his best position? I’d always argue play your best player in his best position - but watching Delap and others, is he our best player?

Thats a compliment to them btw. I never thought three years ago we’d see players of this quality and promise at the club.

It is fair, at times I wish he would play that pass and keep it going forward but he'll learn

His close control and ability one on one is exceptional and he does give us an outlet in games where we aren't going to have a lot of the ball

I feel for Chaplin a bit because there's elements of his game he still does better than Omari but McKenna knows we need his pace and ability just to cling onto the ball at times. His defensive work can't be underplayed either, my gut feeling is McKenna feels Chaplin isn't so good defensively and we are trying to defend from the front.

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two players leave in January, either loans or sales. If we are to survive, and eventually flourish in the premiership, we will need to upgrade.

It's tough on the players who got us here, but they pretty much know the deal in their profession.

He's definitely holding onto it too long, but having 3 players on him pretty quickly is part of the issue as he's identified as a danger. Once it starts clicking with him, he'll be taking so many of their players out of the game.

Yeah exactly that, if he can start shifting the ball on before that 2nd 3rd man arrives, things will look very different

It's fine-tuning his decision-making that's needing IMO, as I said last week that;s a lesser improvement than the one he made across last season so I'm sure he'll get there quite soon. Otherwise, he really looks the part in the Premier League.

He was also knackered by the end of the game yesterday, he did a lot of running even more so than Delap and Leif who covered some distance too.

He didn’t hang onto it too long for Delap’s brilliant second goal. He knew he was making the run.

Knowing where others are in what is a new forward line is part of the reason why he doesn’t let the ball go as quickly as he might sometimes - in my view. Time will remedy that.

It is staggering.

The man was clutch for near two seasons, sharp shooter and absolutely instrumental in our play, such an intelligent player.

I would understand the situation more if someone had come in and been a huge upgrade, but the reality is Omari has been poor.

Comments around his athleticism/physicality from people are just nonsense in my opinion.

Disagree, it was obvious last year against the teams with more players who had played in the PL, West Brom away and Leeds in particular that Chaplin struggled to compete physically in those matches. It says much for him as a player that he managed to still be effective despite that, I think Texters 6/10 is harsh across the season but certainly the case some weeks.

That's even more of an issue in this divisionm.

And Omari has been "poor"? Nope.

I think that's fair but what's very evident is how much respect the opposition are showing him. They're well organised at this level and do their homework, its a testament to him. He's looked lively in most games this season, I thought at St Mary's he was off it and at Brighton we didn't have much opportunity to attack them, but other than that he's been dangerous, even against Liverpool and City he was the 1 player in our side at the time who you thought was the closest to their levels, albeit of course not quite at them.

He was excellent yesterday though. Certainly a few occasions he got caught on the ball (1 I thought Morsy put him in a bit of trouble to be fair to Omari), but a number of times he got on the ball he was doubled up on and he makes things happen and has a ridiculous engine on him.

Think all the squad are just settling in to how much quicker you need to be at this level. It is all just that split second faster.

Same with the Burns chance at the end. Last year, he would have got his shot off. This year, the defender gets back in the nick of time.

Fine margins and all that, but Omari is just going to get better and better and will be just dandy
