That's an amazing looking front 5. Bellingham is good enough to play anywhere asked of him. Would prefer a natural number 9, but that is some line up.

....must be delighted to realise that he'd rather play with no natural centre forward than play one of them.

It's square pegs in round holes again.

It will probably work fine tonight, but as soon as we play a decent team we'll get found out, as usual.

Perhaps that’s why he is trying it out in this game ? ……yes .

Our “world class” number 9 was utter rubbish in the euros, so let’s see how a false 9 works before rushing to judgement eh

....squeeze in all the "big names".

When Kane is fit he'll probably drop a defender to fit him in.

IMHO appointing Carsley just screams of a total lack of ambition from the FA, but I'm not sure why we should expect anything less from them really.

Or let's see how our other strikers do with a run of international fixtures

Everyone telling me in the last game no one is ready to take over kane. Well they can't be if they're sat on the bench.

...which should be OK by you, yes?

I'd rather we had an actual number 9, Watkins has shown he's more than capable and has been more effective than Kane recently.

But we all know that if Kane was fit he'd be starting. He's not playing a "false 9" out of choice, he's doing it because Kane is injured.

Changing formation because one player is injured shouldn't happen, particularly not at international level.

The FA get a lot of things wrong but building an international dynasty of coaching staff and players isn't one of them.
Carsley won the U21 Euros without a number 9. There are many ways of playing this game and I'm all for it.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

....as I said it'll probably work fine tonight.

But Carsley coming in just smacks of when Southgate got the job to me, no top level experience, an easy and cheap appointment and will ultimately fail when "sh1t gets real"....man.

Perfectly fine by me of course.

I’m not sure Kane should come straight back in, but as you say that’s more than likely.

Probably unfairly I always think of Kane as a flat track bully

or alternatively...

an appointment years in the making (as with Southgate) that results in a marked improvement in our international tournament outcomes.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Playing with a False 9 is a bit more out there than Southgate?

At least he's trying something different. From the first couple of mins, it looks like we'll have no shortage of attacking options.

Is that the same role where Bellingham played all his best stuff at the start of his time in Real Madrid?

Yeah, that probably helps. Foden and Palmer aren’t too shabby - surely these attacking options should see off most teams. No ugly nasty b@stard with elbows like Shearer’s to be the battering ram though.
