Club and counterfeit kit 10:36 - Oct 20 with 5590 views | Pinewoodblue | Purchased third kit, entered club shop website via Facebook. Consequently Facebook came up with numerous sites offering all three kits at around third of the price, took the time to report it to the club, via an email address set up to report such activity. Provided links to all the ads, not even had an acknowledgement of email. Do they care? Before anyone asks No I will not provide links.

Club and counterfeit kit on 13:03 - Oct 20 with 4270 views | Kievthegreat | It'll be a game of whack-a-mole. It's very quick and easy to setup a shop and put some ads on Facebook. Takes far longer to try and stop them through any legal mechanism (and they are likely put of jurisdiction). Even Facebook themselves are slow to remove ads as the reality is that the scammers are paying Facebook, so they are in no rush to stop being paid!

Would be polite of the club to acknowledge the communication though.

Update. I did finally receive a response, mush along the lines suggested by Kievthegreat. “Thanks for sending through. We are aware of numerous counterfeit operations across social media, we work directly with the Premier League brand protection partner (as well as our own specialist agency) to remove these via enforcement. Unfortunately, this is an endless task. As soon as a listing is removed it will pop up again under a slightly different name/company. As you can see from the size of some of the Clubs involved in these counterfeit listings, it’s near on impossible to prevent altogether.” I also reported the ads to Facebook but couldn’t see anything wrong with them. Facebook are clearly the villains here as they accept money from the sellers of counterfeit gear but Premier League seem unable or unwilling to tackle them head on.

And the issue with taking action with Facebook is that if it's an issue for a Football club, it's probably worth maybe a few million, but for Facebook it could fundamentally undermine a huge revenue stream so they'll fight it far harder than any club or single organisation would. Only somewhat related story is Martin Lewis suing Facebook because they published 1000s of Scam ads with his name/face. Thing is he sued for defamation which, considering his entire reputation is on being responsible with money, linking him with financial scams would seem a pretty slam dunk affair. Eventually settled for £3m for charity and legal costs. Makes you wonder how scared they were of a precedent being set though.

The pricing is set by the sportswear providers, the club make a small profit on top. I think the biggest profit margin on kits is customising them (adding names and numbers on the back).

Oh yeah. Of course. And then there's our wantaway manager who is blackmailing the club to stay here to the tune of £5m a year, currently (but set to increase when the next premier league club come to tempt him away).

Which is presumably why the original poster is delighted to be ripped off and outraged that oriental entrepreneurs are cashing in.

it's just a question of which bad actor you give your money to isn't it? On the one hand you're paying for fat yanks to sun themselves on a yacht. Or the other you're financing Asian organised crime and child labour exploitation. I guess it's down to whichever you're more comfortable supporting.

I dare say. Plus helping to pay the medical bills for coronary procedures needed after life-long burger consumption, so at least your money is going a bit further if you choose to get fleeced through the official channel.

Not sure the club make an excessive profit from shirt sales. Ipswich is currently the cheapest kit in Premier League. Do you ever have anything positive to say about the club you claim to support?

Club and counterfeit kit on 13:35 - Oct 23 with 2951 views | E_I_E_I_E_I_O | Reported to the club....blimey. The black market for football shirts has been going for decades and now we are in the Premier League our shirts are part of this. Many sites from Asia are great to deal with and with £12 for a identical shirt how can you blame people. The quality is great. If English football clubs including our own want to rip fans off then what do you expect.
Club and counterfeit kit on 13:43 - Oct 23 with 2890 views | dirtyboy | On Saturday, there were two ladies wearing the pink kit, one was very different to the other. The one wearing the fake one also had ITFC 'knickers' on. Yeah Yeah..I know what you're thinking...but they were VERY visible. Shame people clearly love their club so much...I mean...ITFC underwear? But don't buy official kit and line the pockets of criminals instead.

No idea if people have got them from the same site, but there's definitely a knock off version of our home shirt going around as seen plenty of people in it and it looks crap. The blue is a completely different colour and the Town badge is bloody massive on the kit. If you're going to get a knock off one, at least find one from somewhere reputable for that such thing. Clearly a lot of sites which do identical kits.

Same with the away shirt. I suppose you never really notice the decent fakes, as they blend in, but there are some awful ones out there with all of the gold elements reproduced in yellow.

Yes you're right. Saw plenty of them at Man City away. Maroon colour all wrong and the gold is yellow, as you say.
