Fans Forum bingo…. on 19:18 - Nov 19 by Zx1988 | Amazing how, in a random ballot, they've managed to pick pretty much the blandest audience possible. Surely there's got to be at least one person there who's keen to ask a proper probing question. |
Maybe the questions are vetted first?

I've been to a couple previously, and it's been organic - I was able to ask unvetted/unseen questions from the floor. That's not to say that it might not have changed since, though. [Post edited 19 Nov 2024 19:21]

To be fair I know people who are 60/70+ who are traditionalists who hate the Call Me Ted stuff, but I doubt those would be the people who would be emailing Mark Ashton. [Post edited 19 Nov 2024 19:26]

That's a fair point - and they're the ones more likely to send an angry email or green ink letter at the slightest annoyance or inconvenience.

Bit of a weird answer to that one - started off saying it was unfair to put out communication suggesting it was because of the sponsors, but then ended by essentially saying they took their view on it over the fans'. [Post edited 19 Nov 2024 19:31]

Fans Forum bingo…. on 19:19 - Nov 19 by DublinBlue84 | That's what annoys me really, the problem is there are a load of people that go there who want to go there to be there, rather than to ask questions. And the longer these events go on, the worse the questions become. [Post edited 19 Nov 2024 19:19]

What was it? Something like 150-200 tickets available for the event, yet they're scrabbling around trying to fill the hour. I don't know how it could be managed better, but surely they could have filled the room five times over with people who actually wanted to ask questions.

By my reckoning John Catton has been to all the forums. Just the luck of the draw I guess.

Never heard of him but I assume, from your comment, that he's of the sort of profile that he doesn't have to sully himself by entering a glorified raffle?

I know they asked for questions on social media but it's quite easy to get a platform where people submit questions and other people then upvote/downvote them - that might be a good way of seeing what questions do want answered (at least from those online).

Fans Forum bingo…. on 19:16 - Nov 19 by FrimleyBlue | Is it so hard to ask questions. Even if they are awkward Mark. Why do you feel you can be both chairman and ceo Mark. Why did you refuse to discuss the programme cover KM and Mark. What are your thoughts on the increased muscle injuries this season, what's behind that... ( just a mice footy question) How close are we to being cat 1 Mark have you now changed your mind on it because it's now financially beneficial or has KM changed your mind about it.. What does KM feel about mcgreal as u21 manager is he getting enough from the players. |
Why do you feel the need to ask awkward questions when the club is being well run. If the ownership group were unhappy with Ashton doing both roles then they would step in. You will be a real bundle of joy if it goes badly.

I think if you look at the answers to the Broadhead question and the one about the Call Me Ted covers you can get a flavour for how any tricky/probing question would be answered. That's not to say they aren't worth asking but unless the club want to reveal something they won't [Post edited 19 Nov 2024 20:59]

Why not? It's a fans forum to ask questions which we don't already know the answers of. Unfortunately those who asked didn't get the memo. Nothing wrong with asking questions that actually would be interesting to know the answers of. Asking pressing questions isn't an issue. They used to be asked by the journos so if they aren't done that way then nothing with supporters asking them.

Oh, apologies! I think I must have completely misjudged the tone of your post! I'd read it more along the lines of "wow, I can't believe Fabio Wardley's luck. No away membership, but always seems to get his and five mates' names pulled out of the away ballot!"

I think it also dovetails in with the club's/Ashton's desire to try and stop the interesting/awkward questions from even being asked. When he's dictating to Radio Suffolk what he will/won't be asked about during a fan phone-in, it only really leaves the Fans' Forum as the only place in which the awkward questions can be freely asked, even if they won't get a decent answer.

Think that's a fair question, was an issue when we went down and was discussed at AGMs etc at the time.
