Any poll that doesn’t meet some people’s agenda on here will always be “piffle” 😂

And the award for the most ridiculous petition goes to on 17:34 - Nov 24 by Nthsuffolkblue | I honestly think it was a reckless and disgraceful decision of Cameron to put it into the hands of a referendum in the first place. It was an abdication of what needed to be a Government decision because it was far too complex and nuanced to ever get a popular vote based on the real issues at stake. He recognised that by resigning after the result. By putting it in their manifesto he hoped to bring some unity to the right wing under a Conservative umbrella. Instead he just kicked the can of dissension down the line and ended up increasing the divide. There we go, though. We are where we are, outside the EU and with the US looking to become more protectionist than ever. I am sure we will look to negotiate a closer deal with the EU before too long. |
Cameron announced that the referendum was advisory and not binding. It was a shock to me to find out that was a lie. Oh hang on - Cameron is a Conservative politician - Won't get fooled again.

You don't appear to have grasped that signing a petition and taking part in a properly conducted opinion poll aren't the same thing.

There is no false equivalence. Democracy speaks but it is not a one-time event. There is plenty of evidence that the decision to leave the EU was not the best choice for the UK and plenty of suggestion that the demographics have changed significantly even if those who previously voted haven't changed their beliefs on the subject. You can be certain that, had Farage and co seen a 48% support, they would be campaigning hard for another go.
