I saw some small moments after we conceded - but do you not think having some fans on his back constantly contributes to this? He has to be aware of this negativity, and it can play on his confidence.
Last week in the SBR Upper there was a Neanderthal behind me constantly shouting abuse at Muric (and the language with young kids around us was despicable). Morons like this are undermine our team, and for me take much of the blame. Unfortunately there are a few posters on here that fall into the same category …. | | | |

Most posters on here know nothing about goal keeping.
You can never fully protect your near post or you are opening up too much of the goal for the attacker. You play the percentages.
Also the shot took a nick off Clarke, without that Muric saves.
Most of the opinion on here following the goal is just reflecting Gary Birtles thoughts, someone who last played top flight football nearly 40 years ago and never played in goal in his life. You might as well be asking Saint and Greavsie about goalkeeping. [Post edited 14 Dec 2024 17:29]

Is it the same bloke behind me at PR that for 3 consecutive seasons now has moaned when Walton/Hladky/Muric are playing it short from a goal kick, as it’s seen as ‘risky’ and would rather them just get rid… to then when they do go long on a goal kick, moans and says ‘who the hell is that to then?’. |  |

100% agree. Certain people can't wait to dig him out it seems which is pretty sad from so called 'supporters'
I don't think it was an error from Muric today, it was a fiercly struck shot from quite close in that got a deflection on the way. It's a bit of a myth that a keeper should never be beaten on his near post. Having played in goal myself, sometimes the shot is just too good and you dont have time to react.
I love Muric personally, he is a very talented keeper and I find him entertaining to watch as well. I will take the rough with the smooth for now and enjoy watching him develop and improve under McKenna and his coaching staff. |  | | |

I really do not like these type of pile ons. He is an Ipswich Town player and we should all be backing him. McKenna obviously rates him and that should be enough for all of us. He has made some outstanding saves this season and if McKenna is happy, then I am.

After every game some seem to pick a player and run with it. Even last season some were calling certain player out constantly. It's pathetic keyboard warriors who have no idea what it take to be a high end footballer.
The best thing to do, is trust the manager and back our players regardless. Goalkeepers will always be got at, but Muric has made less mistakes that or outfield players, just that of where he plays it is highlighted more. A miss pass in midfield can be corrected, but by a goalkeeper it can result in a goal. The nature of the beast.
Just trust the manager and back whoever he picks. He knows better than all of us on here put together. | |

If, after a game, I think Omari has been a bit off, Delap gave the ball away, Burgess was amazing, or the keeper didn’t fill me with confidence… I’ll mention it.

That’s the problem for me, the “room for improvement”. At 26 we’ve looked at Muric as a good investment at £10m because he could have a long career here and get better-and-better. A no brainer really from an investment point-of-view but the reality is, he will make mistakes as he’s got a lot of work to do to grow into being the finished article. In our position knowing the tough season we’ll have, more experience would have been a better bet.
If we can ride the next 6 - 10 games without any more calamities he’ll get stronger in the second half of the season but that’s a big IF and a gamble. Gambling at this level is very uncharacteristic of us, which is odd and raises question marks over the policy for me. | | | |
