That doesn't mean every outlandish suggestion will come true.

By that logic we're signing Haaland and you can't say it's not possible.

Who says it will come true. My post literally started with “Regardless of whether this is genuine or not…” and was in response to some saying Rashford isn’t a McKenna type player.

I’d say it’s highly unlikely, but Rashfor will be looking for a permanent move in the summer rather than a rushed decision next month so it is likely he will be on loan somewhere if he’s not in United’s plans.

I dint think City are looking to offload Haaland.

Do you mean Curry's, the electrical retailer?

I just didn't agree with your logic that Kalvin Philips was ridiculed, so... (that was the post I was replying to).

Haaland was obviously a flippant example. The point is just because one unlikely signing actually happened doesn't give credence to absolutely every other rumour someone just made up in their head!

Guthers isn't comparing the quality of Ali Al-Hamadi vs Marcus Rashford though is he? There are other strikers out there!

Of course. But I find the question 'why would we want Marcus Rashford' a bit of a silly one. If we sign someone better than him in January (regardless of recent struggles) it will be a breathtaking piece of business.

It's not necessarily about his obvious qualities, more about what we actually need - as Guthers says, hard working, fitting into our system, strong driving through, makes own chances.

We have finite money, FFP room, and Prem loan room, so if we can get someone more in the Delap/Hirst style then even if they aren't as high quality as Rashford they would make more sense. Of course if you can get that type of player AND Rashford then you're in absolute dreamland, but that's even more unlikely.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Typo. On a bus to a winter sports resort. When Phillips was floated people laughed and said no chance.

Don’t see any harm in people speculation on possible signings. It’s just a bit of harmless in. I’ll leave you to it

"When Phillips was gloated people laughed and said no chance."

Yeah I know. I already knew before you said it the first time. The implication is that anything's possible as that happened, but the logic doesn't follow.

Enjoy the winter sports!

It's probably a redundant argument anyway as chances of signing him are slim, but if you offered me Latte Lath for £20m or Rashford on loan for 5 months for a £5m loan fee, I would take the latter. I'd feel more comfortable that giving us the better chance of staying up. Moore was a 'gun for hire' last January that didn't necessarily fit the long term profile we want.

It’s all about opinions and is fun, but I’d go for Latte Lath in your scenario.

Take your point re Moore, but he was at a different level and the club knew exactly what it was getting. In retrospect, I kind of wish we’d retained Moore, assuming he wanted to stay. Not the best player I’ve ever seen but he worked well with those around him and you could argue that without him we might not have made it over the line.

Again you're making a straw man argument because you're putting Latte lath up as the only other option. Which at least is a better straw man than Rashford v AAH I suppose!

And Moore doing a job doesn't have any relation as to whether Rashford would or wouldn't be worth it. We took very little risk (and had virtually no other options) when we took Moore. Rashford would be putting all our eggs in a very shaky basket... but if Ashton/McKenna thought it worth the punt (baring in mind all the other caveats I've already mentioned) then fine. McKenna knows him better than anyone.

But realistically, it's not going to even be an option for us to decide on, and the OP is known for posting nonsense.

I don't think we are going to be awash with options this January either to be honest. We struggled in the summer and this window is going to be even tougher.

He might come. But the consensus is he's on over £300k a week and no club is going to pay that. So that means ManU will have to pay a large percentage of the wage opening him to be available for a lot of clubs.
I really don't see him coming to Town and a relegation fight when he could go to a Newcastle type club and sit in mid table.
He has a chance to fight for his ManU place with a new manager and it appears he was so hungry that when he was dropped he talked about a new challenge rather than fighting for his place at ManU

He was having a good chat with Pert at the game and I remember thinking if it wasn't so absurd I'd put money on him touting to come here...

If he goes out on loan in January he needs to play - I cant see ManU worrying too much about wages if they are getting him in the shop window as I would think that the big thing for them is to maximise the sale price. Not saying that means he comes to town, but I would wonder whether other clubs would provide the same opportunity and coaching as town.

PSG was floated a few days ago, then heard today Barca have been interested for ages. Perhaps a Barca loan?

There are doubts that Barça can continue to pay and register existing players so unless ManUtd pay all his wages he isn't going to be loaned there. PSG sounds his most likely destination I'd guess.

Am I mistaken? There's a three page thread on whether we might get Rashford on loan, but haven't we used up the domestic loan option on Phillips? Don't we only get one domestic loan per season in the EPL?

It's a test from Ratcliffe, phase two of the job interview, your track record is impressive but can you motivate and re-energise big money players...

Yes you are mistaken. It's two PL loans.
