Rashford on 10:50 - Dec 18 with 5985 views | turtle2 | Think its a possibility on some kind of deal - I tend to agree we dont need another striker - we have a lot of fire power up front and have been competitive in most games..... would rather see money spent on other back up positions or Nathan used more often when needed ......... Rashford deffo on his way though and very chummy with Mc Kenna

He doesn't fit the profile of the forward KM wants though does he? Don't get me wrong, I think he's a quality player and, when he was on form, a very very good player. At 27, on the wages he is on and everything he's done, can you see him coming to PR and putting in the shift that Delap or the others are doing?

tbh I could see him putting a shift in. He clearly has a connection with McKenna, that much is evident. You could be critical of how he has handled himself at Man Utd, but that is largely down to club culture. I am sure he will have a number of takers regardless, and that is only if Amorim wants shot of him. But I suspect he has the potential to make a similar impact that Welbeck has had at Man Utd. It is highly unlikely of course as what we do know about Sir Jim is that he is very careful with his money. So I can't see him loaning Marcus out of some sort of 'just pay us £10k per week' type deal. If we paid £100k per week, you might be talking as we only need him for what 16 weeks? £1.6m would be excellent value if he helped keep us in the League. My english is terrible. We will see what happens in January, but I think we may be hard pressed to find Delap 2.0. That type of striker doesn't grow on trees. We had this debate last January when many people said Moore wasn't the same type of striker as Hirst. If Rashford is seriously available, interested and a deal could be done within our finances then I suspect McKenna would be all over it. I suspect he will have bigger fish to fry though.

I think United fans have been expecting him to put a shift in for the last 5 years too and barring one season it just hasn't happened. His attitude stinks at the minute, he's going out every weekend, leaking dressing room info to the press and generally being moody. I'm sure he can go somewhere and do well if he gets away from all of that but for us right now it's a no thank you from me.

I certainly see your point, there is definitely risk associated with it. Highly paid players not pulling their weight in the squad could become very annoying for other players, and we don't want our culture disrupted. But I suspect Marcus wants to get away from Manchester. Sometimes people just need a change. One thing is for sure, if McKenna wants him, then MA certainly has the brass neck, and the balls to get the deal done. [Post edited 18 Dec 2024 11:37]

Al Hamadi does the same jobs as Delap and Hirst, albeit perhaps not to the same level (yet). Is Rashford going to be elbowing his way past defenders? It's about function as much as skill. However good a drill may be, you don't use it as a hammer. If McKenna thinks he can do something with Rashford, then fair enough. I just can't quite see how he fits.

I wouldn't put Wilshere in with the others. It was his body that let him down, not his attitude

Rashford on 12:23 - Dec 18 with 5072 views | BarcaBlue | Man Utd are just 10 points and 5 places above us so no way they would loan anyone to a relegation rival. Not sure we'd want their cast-offs either.

It's always interesting to read and hear what us mere mortals consider to be 'success'. The benchmark is deeply personal and I doubt any of the three elite sportsmen listed in the post you're replied to would consider themselves a failure. This article on Alli sprung to mind as it struck a chord with me at the time: https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2022/aug/30/dele-alli-besiktas-move-do

Didn't Ole get reasonable joy out of Rashford off the left, playing under essentially the same system McKenna plays? And he was United first team coach at the time, so has worked with him before [Post edited 18 Dec 2024 13:20]

I can't see Ashton, McKenna or Morsy tolerating that, let alone the rest of the squad. But on the other hand, we hung around for Brandon Williams with his troubles.

Rashford on 13:30 - Dec 18 with 4565 views | bsw72 | It's an interesting thought, as while he is on ~300K+ per week, would United be prepared to let him go out on loan while still paying his fees with a view to getting him in the shop window to move on in the summer. I am not 100% sure whether anyone would be willing to spend big on him in January versus a loan with a view to buy. If Utd were to let him go, you could argue that it would be in Utd's favour for him to play for another Premier league side and assist taking points off rivals. I actually think he will go abroad in January with a loan->perm move, but we will see. [Post edited 18 Dec 2024 13:30]

Have I missed something? Where is it stated that Rashford was leaking dressing room info? The only thing i can see is that Amad and Garnacho were asked about it? Also, does Rashford go out every weekend? Again not seen anything to suggest this. I feel like people are trying to portray him as a bad character, but is that really the case or is his heart/head not quite in it at the mo? Not too dissimilar to our own Kalvin Phillips at times over thee last year or so
