We need at least 6 more wins, and a handful of draws to even think about staying up.
Of those 6 wins, 3 will need to be against Soton, Wolves and Leicester, so it's doable, especially if we do add a couple of players in Jan - and assuming we don't lose anyone else to long injuries.
So yes, it's looking unlikely, but if we need to be a yo-yo club for a few seasons until we can finally get the quality of players we need for this league, then so be it. |  |

O'Shea a clear upgrade. Ogbene would've been and Szmodics clearly is as well. 100m sadly doesn't get you the quality required to compete at this level. It probably gets you 3 PL ready players in reality.

The reality is that 20+ years ago we could gain promotion, via the play offs, and still have enough about us to finish 5th.
Twenty four years late it is a different league but we do have enough about us to avoid relegation, but we need to rethink our approach. We have dropped far too many points in games we need to win if we are to stay up.
It isn't games against Liverpool, Manchester City Newcastle that sees us where we are it is points lost against mid table strugglers and teams in danger of relegation.
We need to rethink our approach , to try and match, like for like, against teams like Newcastle, if we know they will have three in midfield then we need to do the same. If we know we need a pacey midfield then we select accordingly.
We got off to a cruel start but we never tried to match them and paid the price. |  |

It wasn’t in the plan. I always thought it was likely we’d go down and I think many of our summer signings had half an eye on the championship in 25/26. Our squad lacks depth, and that’s even when we’ve brought in a dozen new players. We’ve sometimes had nearly half the players on the pitch who were playing L1 football this time two years ago. There’s no surprises, I don’t think ,to the way this season is panning out, other than we’ve been far more competitive in more games than I thought, which is a huge credit to KM and the squad. I don’t think the gulf is huge, other than those crucial details, the 5% that makes the difference. And that where we are falling short. But I am still very proud of the club. |  |

100 million doesn't get you a competitive premiership squad. It is what you spend every year to strengthen a competitive Premiership squad with two or three new players. You need about 300 million to get the base squad but you can't spend that even if you had it. If you do spend and get relegated you risk complete melt down.
To be honest I wouldn't bother. It's a rubbish league, completed corrupted by money, is less entertaining than other leagues and kick off times manipulated for tv, players falling over and trying to cheat claiming a foul all the time. VAR and all the other BS. | | | |

We didn't just have a squad of league 1 players. Its a massive myth. We had some but we also had some very experienced champ level players.
There's questions on should we have retained moore just for his experience alone.. etc etc too. | |

Let's be honest. The majority of those are mid table Championship players at best.
McKenna has made them the players they are.
