For anyone alone/struggling/anything else, hopefully this thread will show there are people who can relate and rally around.
I’ve been dreading Christmas this year. Exactly 12 months ago tomorrow I left the house to take what I thought would be my final walk. I’m still kicking around, but tomorrow will be hard, even though I’m lucky that I will be in the company of others.
Sending positive love and thoughts to anyone else who is finding things hopeless at this time of year. You’re not alone.
I would also like to thank the kind people who have rallied around or offered support to me on here over the past 12 months. It has really made a difference.
If all else fails, just watch this:

Sending you my best wishes over the festive period. Remember that as well as your loved ones being around you over the next few difficult days, the big ol’ TWTD family is always here for you if you ever feel the need to chat.
Positive thoughts and love back to you too. As others have said, you’re amongst friends on here. Kudos to you for reaching out. Hope you have a peaceful and happy time over Christmas. Always a seat and a cuppa for you on my allotment Swailsey.

I actually didn’t intend for this to be about me specifically, but rather creating a place for anyone else who is struggling to post/share as I know times can get tough. It probably came across a bit more ‘look at me’ than intended!

Not a look at me post at all.
General advice for everyone ;if tomorrow you wonder how someone is , knowing they are probably alone, find the time to make contact with them.

Not at all ‘look at me’, more ‘look out for each other’, for which you are rightly commended. Stay strong and take care of yourself. That last sentence applies to anyone on here in pain in any way. As someone above said there’s a whole bunch of weirdos by your side, in a really good way.

You're a good egg Swailsey. You or anyone else for that matter will never be alone as long as this crazy place with it's odd crazy people is here. There are allsorts here. Some we like more others, but the one thing this place comes up trumps with everytime is supporting those who need supporting. That's when this place is always at it's best. I hope everyone is able to make the most of the festive period and also a big shout out to those that are working. As Tiny Tim said - "God bless us, everyone"!
Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Thank you for posting and thanks Phi;/Gav for pinning.
And not at all a 'look at me' to me, and to be honest, even if it was, if it means we have you (or others) on the board for the day, then carry on.

This was reported on the Today Programme this morning, and my heart goes out to anyone (not through choice) spending Christmas Day alone, as well as anyone else (including you Swailsey) struggling with Christmas for other reasons.
According to a study by the Policy Institute at King’s College London, one in nine people say they will be spending Christmas Day alone this year.
That number has increased from one in 20 who said the same 55 years ago.
While the share of people aged 65 and over who said they would spend Christmas Day by themselves has remained the same since 1969 – 15% of over 65s – the number for other demographics has risen.
The biggest increase was seen among the youngest surveyed, where one in 11, or 9%, of people aged 21 to 34 said they will be spending Christmas Day alone.
Only one in 100 said the same in 1969.

Sorry to hear you're dreading Christmas this year. I came and watched you gig at The Smokehouse a few months ago and managed to have a chat with you in the bar after your set. It was good to meet you and whilst our time chatting was brief, you really did come across as a "good egg" as one of the other TWTD posters have already said!
It was brave of you to post what you have, and in doing so it strikes me that you are a strong character deep down, typically thinking of others that might be struggling, particularly at this time of year.
Keep "talking" by posting on here at any time Swailsey.
Take care buddy.

Christmas means different things to different people at different points in time, both good and not so good.
For people like myself, it’s dates in a calendar and part of the framework to the year. For Mrs C, there’s the religious side to it and her general liking of it. My mother adored it, my dad didn’t and used to do passable impressions of Scrooge, my chums grumble but most like it. It’s an excuse for a drink, not that they need one.
But talking of A Christmas Carol, I always feel it a time of year that reminds me to think a little more broadly on things. Last year wasn’t the easiest, but when I look at the the footage of the footballers visiting the hospitals, and in particular for St Elizabeth’s knowing what that means to the staff and patients there, that hopefully gives me a little better perspective.
Enough droning on - whatever Christmas holds for you, stay safe, relax, enjoy if you can and try not to think about the next two matches!
