12pts, the same as Luton at this stage. on 07:43 - Dec 27 with 1276 views | Steve_M | Had we taken a point at Brentford, two more from Leicester and at least one from Bournemouth I think it would be about right. Those are the margins that are costing us. Close but not quite good enough at the moment. This season was always going to be a stretch with so many of our players with no real experience of this level, injuries have made that harder but we also went into this season with only two forwards capable of playing as our main striker.

12pts, the same as Luton at this stage. on 00:40 - Dec 27 by SWBlue22 | Should have beat Fulham, Villa, Leicester, Brentford, Man U, Bournemouth IMO but even half of that we are still in a decent position points wise. We are already in the territory now of having to get points in the most unlikely places starting with our next two games. [Post edited 27 Dec 2024 14:02]

Didn't Luton have 2 seasons in championship to our 1? I guess we have probably spent more money so there is an argument to say yes but then the premier league gets harder every year. I'd say Leicester was the only game so far where you can say 100% we deserved to win. To be honest I am just glad we are not bottom and really hope we can get any home win sooner rather than later.

Two brilliant Onana saves were the difference against Man U

We're the 19th best team statistically in pretty much every metric, so it's optimistic to stay we should have won those games etc. Luton are an interesting comparison to choose, I'm not sure how relatable they are. They spent £25 million in the summer before the prem season, we spent considerably more. They only spent £2.5 mill the season before in the Championship! So on money spent on squad then yes, we should be doing better than them but we're trying to play a very different style of football that tends to require more expensive players. And even with that spend, it's not really working.

Wolves, Leicester and Saints have lost more games than us. We should have had a home win by now, bur goalkeepers of Man U and Villa prevented it. Thats my main regret, perhaps the Leicester game.

They also had incremental building to getting that side promoted We had back to back promotions which added an extra challenge

12pts, the same as Luton at this stage. on 13:55 - Dec 27 with 814 views | OldFart71 | I don't think you can blame any one thing for where we are. Firstly I think it was unexpected us rising from Division One to the Premier League in two seasons. We then either lost a dozen players either because they weren't deemed good enough, were injured and allowed to leave, were loan players of whom only one was recruited or retired which mean't another dozen coming in. Then there was also the fact that those remaining hadn't had much or any experience in the Premier League. We then started the season with new recruits which were a mixture of Championships better players and a couple of prayers with some but not much Premier experience and one who had, but had lost his form. Following that we then had a catalogue of injuries putting us second in the League for the number of injuries. With these injuries it has meant a lot of changes and some players in and out of form. We are up against experience teams and experienced managers. The players of these teams cost as much or more for two of their players as we paid for the dozen we got in. Of these players I suggest in most cases it was one eye on what they could possibly do for us and the other on what sort of sell on could be achieved. Not many teams are coming up from the Championship and finding that they can stay in this Division. Based on what we have I don't think we are under achieving. Yes it would be nice for a few more points which we could and maybe should have had. But it is what it is. As long as we can stay within half a dozen points of the teams just outside the bottom three we have a chance. ,

However, with the extra £100M+ that would give us to spend on the squad, we would have an OK Championship squad wouldn't we? Without 3 of the 4 you list, we finished 2nd with a record tally of points for that position. We have added Ogbene, Szmodics, Greaves, Johnson, Jack Clarke and would have Humphreys and Edmondson back as well. I think we would have a decent chance of promotion.
