Just enjoy tonight 07:51 - Dec 27 with 2507 viewsSomethingBlue

See it as yet more proof of how far we've come. Assuming we lose, it looks pretty sure that we will be three points from safety at the turn of the year – which is further evidence of the distance we've travelled. Anyone giving up now needs their head checking.

For what it's worth I've a funny feeling we will give them a game, although they should ultimately be too strong. Physically, Arsenal are a different beast to almost anyone. Their size and power in the spine is insane. Seeds of hope lie in being able to select an experienced international midfield of our own (assuming he goes for Phillips) and the fact Muric, for all he divides people, is one of the better goalkeepers at collecting set pieces. Not too excited about Saka being out, if Martinelli starts down that side he has the directness to punish any Davis forays ruthlessly. It's one where you just want to be in with a sniff going into the last 20 and then see if you can bother them. Hopefully everyone has fun.

Feels like a game for similar tactics to Spurs. Having no Axel is a huge miss but maybe a back 3 of Greaves Burgess and OShea could be worth a try with Johnson at wing back.

Muric
Oshea Greaves Burgess
Johnson KP Cajuste Davis
Omari Delap Smzodics

Something like that may well be how he goes. Wonder if Jack Clarke's ability to carry the ball upfield and better ball retention might be a shout tonight instead of Szmodics, although on the other hand it's the kind of game he could just get eaten up in.

I think Jack Clarke and Broadhead may be too lightweight from the start. Broady deserves some involvement for sure. I think Smzodics gives us a much better press and goal threat on the break. Really hope Johnson is fit to start. Harry Clarke just isn't good enough at this level for me.

Yet to see Clarke do much at all so far. I guess he's been "out of position" but even so......

If only Hirst, Tuanzabe and Ogbene were fit. Those three have been a huge loss.

I also can't help thinking we'd have been better off keeping Hladky, but there's no point in dwelling on that one.

I'm enjoying it immensely. We might well lose tonight, but its not like losing at home to Rotherham when we set out to take a point.........

Prepare yourself when you pay for a pint ... (We know you can get a whole round for the football team plus 4 tickets to the talkies at t'Gaumont for the same price back home)

Hard to 'enjoy' it but will happy to keep them scoring three or less and would love to see us score. Expecting a 6-0 in the hope it's going to be less.

We’ve got to be sensible for this one. Going hung ho, whilst admirable, is suicide against the better teams. As we saw against Newcastle. We just don’t have the quality to go toe to toe against some of these players. Although (touch wood) I’m not too worried about Havertz.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?
