Fulham’s Neutral Fan Area 18:02 - Jan 5 with 6334 views | Blaggers12 | Went to the game today and although there are never any away tickets, we got some in what Fulham call the Neutral Area at the Putney End. Really interesting idea, obviously mostly Fulham fans there, but also a good number of Town fans. We didn’t out ourselves until our penalty when my emotions got the better of me, but we engaged in some decent chat with the home fans without any fear of being hassled. I noticed a few Town fans got removed from Fulham’s new stand, but I’ve never come across an area like this in English football. Do any other clubs have something similar?

Or maybe it's for those who can behave like adults and don't have an issue with someone because they support a different team?

Fulham’s Neutral Fan Area on 18:41 - Jan 5 with 5816 views | Bluedandy | Fulham are a Premier League bed blocker ... their fanbase is filled of transient Londoners who possess barely any affinity to the club. Back in the 80s they would get 3K at home on a good day and their resurrection is largely down to that Cottagers stalwart Mohamed Al Fayed. The third tier is their true home, they bring nothing to the top flight.
Fulham’s Neutral Fan Area on 19:01 - Jan 5 with 5576 views | DJR | The mixing of home and away fans (the entrances said home and away) behind that stand was also not something I've come across. It suggests Fulham fans are in the main decent eggs but I am not sure they would want no segregation when Chelsea come to town.

So you're writing them off because at a very particular time in the past they didn't get large attendances? That seems a very odd stance. They had a higher average attendance of 24,401 in the year when we actually won the title, compared to 22,863 for us. That is no more and no less relevant. What the hell does it matter how many they got in the 1980s? And their average was never as low as 3,000 for any non-covid season, by the way. Their true home can't be the 3rd tier when they've spent far more seasons in the top two tiers than the others put together, and they've had way more premier league seasons than us (18 versus 6). In fact, only 11 teams have had more premier league seasons. Fulham haven't been in the third tier since the twentieth century. I find their fans to be thoroughly decent. They have a stadium full of history, they have a stand where fans of different teams can mix in peace. What's not to like? Sure, Fayed was a wrong'un, but he's dead.

The only thing I’ve noticed about them is, well, you never really notice them. Mitrovic put them on the map and there was a playoff win about 5 years ago, but since then you rarely hear anything about them. No challenges for honours, no relegation battles. Just existing. Mind you, I’m sure they haven’t exactly been paying attention to us either!

I got the "Ipswich are a one-man team", which on recent form, I couldn't argue with.
Fulham’s Neutral Fan Area on 20:28 - Jan 5 with 4717 views | ITFC_Forever | I was at the end of the row before the segregation between us and the neutral zone. There was an odd mix of Fulham fans, tourists dressed as Fulham fans, tourists and ITFC fans under cover. When we scored our second, I looked across and could see several Town fans having their own muted celebrations and caught the eye of one who started laughing and gave a thumbs up.

Why are you so triggered by a statement of the undeniably obvious? Fulham's ascendancy in this century is entirely down to one man buying them access to the top flight. The fact that he was a particularly unsavoury character is irrelevant. In the 1980s they often got crowds of 3K, that's why in 1986-1987 they averaged 4,078 over the whole season. That wasn't an anomaly, throughout the 1970s they consistently averaged between 8K and 10K. I have no doubt that some awfully decent people attend their matches, so what? The point is that they have not evolved as a club ... even with success their fans consistently fail to fill Craven Cottage. Many in the home end aren't even proper Fulham fans ... just passing London trade who fancy watching a top flight game ... the neutral stand is a reflection of that reality. The bottom line is West London is hopelessly over represented in the Premier League. Overall the top division would be better off having clubs from other parts of the country whose fans can actually fill their stadiums. The skewed way in which football is financed however makes that increasingly unlikely.

That's great, but by definition if you are fan of either the home side or the away side, your are not a neutral. Of course fans should be able to behave themselves. That was not my point. [Post edited 5 Jan 20:58]

And where do you think millionaires want to play and play some more? London, sure helps Fulham, Crystal Palace and Brentford sell their club. Does any of them have a strong Premiership 2 cat one side...

Possibly the best food options I’ve come across at football. Possible the worst home atmosphere I’ve come across at football. As a one off it was quite a pleasant change. Decent fans, decent food and drink and a proper ground full of character. Not sure I'd want to experience that too often though. If it wasn't for our fans being superb throughout it would likely feel far less like an away day and more like rocking up to a League One game as a neutral. [Post edited 6 Jan 7:57]

Fulham have been in the top division for 30 seasons, in contrast to our 27.

They got to the Europa League Final in 2010. And the FA Cup final in 1975 when we should have been their opposition and we would have beaten them. So, their honours board could look quite a bit like ours if things had gone their way. I do think that West London is hugely over represented in the Premier League, for obvious reasons.
Fulham’s Neutral Fan Area on 12:15 - Jan 6 with 2788 views | Hipsterectomy | I was in the stand opposite that which seemed full of tourists. It was pretty bizarre to have a young American boy sat behind me, excitedly telling his parents who Ipswich’s star players are. First time I’ve really felt that we are a team on the global stage right now.

One Fulham fan beside me was pissed off and said he would never sit there again but no hassle. On the other side were loads of French Fulham fans who were very relaxed and had a chat. It would not work anywhere else, and IMHO shouldn't work.
