If that's what Liverpool are asking then they clearly don't want to sell him because nobody is paying that.

I suspect a bid of £20m, rising to £25m with add ons, and a sell on of 10-20% would do it; Liverpool have invited further bids rather than shut them down as out of the question, so they are prepared to do business at a 'slightly' higher level.
Any suggestion of a low value buy back option, should be met with a firm kick to the goolies, metaphorically, of course.

Maybe not 30. But an Omari like deal with Add ons. yes.

Serious talent.

Reminded me that Chelsea 'demanded' £30m for Hutchinson. It's funny because as soon as Liverpool say they want at least £30m, in reality that's the most that they're getting unless there's a massive bidding war.

I agree that Omari is currently a better player but he's also two years older then Doak. When Omari was 19 he was playing in the PL2. Doak is a stand out player in the Championship and fully capped international which all adds to his value ...

On the end product I'm not so sure. 2 goals, 6 assists feels like a pretty good return in 21 games for a 19YO. Averaged out over the season that would be 13 assists & 4 goals which would put him pretty much on par with Omari last year who had 5 assists & 10 goals.

I dont have the data to hand but I think that the goals for Omari came in the second half of the season as well. So from a delivery perspective I think Doak is doing OK - probably equivalent to Omari this time last year - would be interested to know if that is correct?

If he is the piece in the jigsaw that sees us above the bottom three, then you do it, even if it is less good value than a deal we did in the summer. Who thinks we would sell Hutch for the number that we bought him for then? The goalposts have definitely moved even in such a short period of time.

Doak is very impressive at carrying the ball up the pitch and is very fast.

Given we're now sitting a bit deeper, that ability to get up the pitch quicker is more important.

McKenna will have identified his attributes and placed a fair significance on it.

No idea how much is in this but you can understand the interest.

Yes, Dosk alongside Delap and Hutchison gives a lot more pop up too if we’re shifting to a more sedentary five at the back. I’d go £20-22m plus significant add ons.

Sightly better than Omari in the first half of the season. By the end of January Omari had 2 goals and 3 assists in 6 starts and 19 appearances off the bench. Doak has 2 goals and 6 assists in 18 starts 3 appearances off the bench.

nope. But I'd get Tom fellows from WBA for £8M.

We'd need to double that number but he'd be my preferred choice too.

Wouldn't pay that sort of fee for him tbh. Problem is that we're potentially a victim of our managers ability to improve players. Liverpool will have seen how KM has turned Delap from a
15 to a 50 million pound player in a matter of months, so that may add a premium to his fee.

If we could reach a Hutchinson type fee I'd be happy

I saw him a couple of times for the Scotland u21s and he was the best player on the park each time (not saying much admittedly...). He moved up to the full team and ran Gvardiol ragged on his first start against Croatia. If we could get him for a similar fee to Omari it would be a good deal.

I doubt that comes into Liverpool's thinking. That would be like selling a second hand car and charging someone more because they're good at fixing up second hand cars. By that logic you're saying Liverpool would sell the player cheaper to a lesser manager?!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

They'll have a minimum acceptable price for him, but I maintain that our ability to improve players will make it harder to negotiate that down if our valuations are apart

Have a listen to “The Transfer Flow” podcast episode 55 - don’t think they have a particular allegiance to a club, but they don’t know why Liverpool will sell and reckon Doak might even be underpriced at 30m given some of his underlying stats this season - they compare him to Dibling at Soton and Wharton last year.

The bit on Doak is at 37 minutes

If there's "a minimum acceptable price" how would anyone negotiate that down?!

McKenna's ability to improve players won't matter a jot. They'll sell to the highest bidder. If anything McKenna's ability to improve players will help us, if the agent wants what's best for his player (and the player wants what's best for himself).

Just listen to yourself;
Ipswich: "Tell you what, we'll offer you £XX."
Liverpool: "Sorry no, we can't go any lower because you're good at developing players."

It doesn't make any sense!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

According to Sky, Palace now looking at Esse from Millwall - maybe as a hedge in case they don’t get Doak? Don’t know if they play the same position

The common method of risk mitigation these days, is via buy back clauses, but they’ll still want as much as they can get of course.

Seems a bit high for Omari 2.0

He may well be decent but it's a lot to be spending when we need 2 or 3 others through the door also

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
