I’ve got a lot of time for Monbiot, as he seems to value what I see as important (the state of the planet we live on, striving for all and not just the privileged few, etc). I haven’t been paying much attention to the Presidential ongoings, as Trump’s ramblings are an energy suck, but his plans announced in his inauguration speech sound horrific. It’s just a green light for the mega-rich to rape the planet and the rest of us. | |

The Roman Salute which is also apparently a myth popularised by some French artist type about 200 years ago(ish). I think. In its fascist sense, the salute has its origins in Italy, and there is currently an interesting series on dictators on BBC Sounds, the latest of which concerns Mussolini.
