To be fair, KS is trying to foster a better relationship with the EU. I believe there is talking of joining some kind of "friends of EU" group of countries. Can't remember the exact name of it. It's not full EU membership but allows for some better trading conditions etc. Just would like to see what the EU would want in return for that. |  |

I think Sanders would have won in 2016 if the Democrats hadn't done everything possible to stop him winning their ticket. People wanted an anti-establishment candidate and the Dems chose the most establishment person possible. While Sanders was still included in opinion polls, he consistently scored better than Clinton when put against Trump as the Republican candidate (and in almost all cases winning).
Sanders' views are more complex than simply labelling him as fringe or even left-wing; his focus was more on economic matters rather than social liberalism (the focus on which is the main criticism of some of the left), and was a protectionist. |  | | |
