Everton's new stadium 08:33 - Feb 18 with 6145 viewsDJR

Everton's U18s played a test game at the new stadium last night in front of 10,000 spectators in one stand.

Here is a couple of links with photos and a video.

In terms of location, it sure is spectacular being right next to the Mersey, and I just hope we stay up so I get a chance to go there next season, especially given the fact my late father-in-law is one of the 36,000 with a personalised brick in the walkway outside the largest stand.

Spectacular looking location but I wonder how the logistics will work out with 3 sides surrounded by water.

Shrewsbury style coracles in the Mersey for when the ball gets kicked over the stand.

Perhaps that's why they got rid of Dyche - insurance cost for the boat operators was going to be too high.

The stadium’s exterior does look spectacular but the inside of it looks a tad underwhelming. No idea what I was expecting to see but was just disappointed.

Maybe they've just done that to lower the expectations of their fans so that they've already got that sense of disappointment before they kick off.

They are doing a test run with a full crowd a bit later, so we shall see.

But my experience of this season is that very few of the Premier League grounds are easy to get away from. when you factor in things like queues for public transport.

By contrast, at Portman Road, I can be on a London bound train at 5.10.

My Everton connection reports that the train experience to & from was woeful and hopes for improvements as it couldn't cope with 10k supporters.

Sandhills, the connecting train station was referred to as a "death trap"

Of course, this is what these test events are all about.

Pies: £6.80 too

It's a 40 minute walk (1.9 miles) from Lime Street, so that would probably be the best route for away fans on the way back. Or, if not that, a shuttle bus to the centre.

As long as they like it that’s all that matters, but from the videos and pics I’ve seen its not this ground breaking amazing stadium.

Goodison looks nicer on the eye

I saw a photo with someone commenting on a 100 deep queue just to get into a pub

The first ever goal in the stadium was scored by a Liverpool fan, who certainly milked the moment!

It's surely close enough to the centre of Liverpool for walking back rather than trying to get on an overbusy train is the most efficient option.

I thought it was just outside of Liverpool proper in/close to Bootle but it is within City limits. It is actually as close to if not closer to the suburb of Everton than Goodison Park is. Anfield is much closer to Everton than either.

Agreed, looks very generic inside the ground. Tottenham's stadium is new but the cockerel is iconic and instantly recognisable, whereas Everton's ground could probably be for any blue top tier team in Europe - could do with something visible from within that makes it their own

Obviously an issue there that should get resolved before the start of next season but my biggest take away from that is who on earth takes an eight week old to a football match?

Looks OK but worth losing World Heritage Status for? But then most of Liverpool's historic waterfront buildings were funded by slavery anyway so that status was dubious to begin with.

But that is the wrong direction !
I want to go north !

Much better to take in a bacon butty by Alf and a pint and take the 18.16.
I dont expect I could do that at Everton either. At least not for well under a tenner.

It wasn't because of this that World Heritage Status was lost, but the planned towers.

There is a boozer right opposite the stadium called The Bramley Moore. I bet that will be a few rows deep at the bar on a match day!
