It’s part of the big plan for a closed shop unfortunately.

The 3 promoted sides…… on 17:04 - Feb 22 with 3170 views | RedX | A club would need huge funds and 5/6 windows to even compete bottom half. Tgen there’s some of the ridiculous decisions from refs and VAR going against you throughout the season. The gap is massive.
The 3 promoted sides…… on 17:06 - Feb 22 with 3106 views | Bluespeed225 | Leicester and Southampton only had one season down, and we have made a better fist of it than them after coming though from league !! Leeds could be in for a nasty shock next season. It really has moved on in this division, where now anyone promoted will be regarded as fodder. Trying to build a team on the move hasn't helped. We know last season was a wonderful, beautiful freak of a season, with that settled side from league 1, and this was always going to be a struggle, but the standard of even lower mid table sides is a huge step up from top of the Championship. You can see a 'Prem 2' league being muted.
The 3 promoted sides…… on 17:08 - Feb 22 with 3053 views | Ryorry | I disagree, we've shown in many games that we're not, in fact can compete very well. We've been incredibly unlucky with injuries to key players though, worse affected than most Prem sides; and referees like today's with their probably unconscious 'big club' bias increase the odds stacked against us (in addition also to the financial disadvantage for recently promoted teams like ourselves).

Yeh, it means a lot of teams have had successive transfer windows to strengthen up It is only going to keep getting worse sadly

We have also got here from a squad that was finishing mid-table in League 1 three years ago. Our progress has been remarkable. The fact that of Leeds, Luton, Sheff Utd, Burnley, Leicester and Southampton haven't made the same progress is not our concern.

The 3 promoted sides…… on 17:16 - Feb 22 with 2856 views | vapour_trail | I don’t buy this closed shop business. It’ll be two years in a row where the three promoted teams go straight back down (probably). Agree that is not a good look. However there’s lots of recent evidence that it’s very doable. Forest, Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Fulham. That’s a quarter of the division. The three promoted clubs this year haven’t been good enough. But we’ve only got ourselves to blame with the amount of late points we’ve passed up. The other thing this year is the quality in the middle is higher. From 16th up everyone is on well over a point a game. That’s due to the reduction in quality of the bottom clubs, and the reduction in quality of the top few clubs. This weekend whilst the three promoted clubs have all lost winnable home games (aggregate score 1-12), everyone else in the bottom half has picked up points. We still have more hope than the other two but it’s fading. The manager does need to start planning for a promotion push for next season before too long.

But every year the promoted three go down, it perpetuates the cycle and makes it harder to break. Next year, there will be 17 teams, all with at least four consecutive years of Prem experience (and the TV money that goes with it) competing against three newcomers. Leeds are the only ones that will stand any chance.

Agree with most of that. I guess KM will be gone next season, so may be gearing us up for his replacement.

Wrong. The gap is getting wider season on season. You missed the point. Have you watched the Championship this season? No way that top three are staying up next season. A broken system.

It's no surprise that the teams that are struggling or underperforming have / had issues with their owners - except for us. If we keep doing what we're doing we'll progress into an established Prem team. Bournemouth and Fulham both regrouped in the Champ or yo-yo-ed before establishing themselves.

As did Man City. Those being run poorest have dropped to above the relegation zone. Unfortunately, West Ham, Everton and Wolves appear to be getting the big decisions right and so doing OK.

I would be amazed if Spurs or Brighton would go for McK. He can't even work with non-British / home nations players how is he going to manage squads that resemble a mini UN General Assembly? McK is still a long way from being a Prem manager. If Brighton want him I'd gladly swap him for Hürzeler.

I agree the top 3 in the Champ this year are especially weak, but that doesn't mean a promoted team will fail to stay up. If you compared the Prem from the last time we were there then yes I agree it has become much more competitive and of a much higher quality. But from 2-3 years ago I beg to differ. Tottenham's team today is even weaker than that 2-3 years ago and some of their players like Scarlett and Gray were playing in the Championship before this season. The majority of players playing in the Prem today (besides us obviously) are the same people so how can there be a massive ramp up of quality from 2023 till now?

On the flip side, we'll have a manager on £5m per year in the Championship. Unless there is a relegation clause.

The 3 promoted sides…… on 17:37 - Feb 22 with 2442 views | Hugoagogo_Reborn | Sadly true, but really not unexpected. I'm actually very proud of the fact that it's Southampton that are this season's whipping boys, not us. We should be remarkably proud of how we have challenged in this league, given that the odds were so high, and on paper we were the least likely to succeed, but let's not be unrealistic. This has been a good journey, it will probably bring many more false hopes and 'if only' moments. Every single team in this league has been able to invest multiple millions more in their squads. This was never, ever a level playing field. The true testament, I believe, is what we make of next season, whichever division we are in.

But they're also relying on their very expensive high quality individual players to turn the game with moments of magic despite having no team cohesion - we just don't have them, yet. Once we get our international scouting going we'll hopefully be able to bring in some gems, like: Wissa - 8.5m Mbeumo - 5.8m Mitoma - 3m

Completely agree and well said. Today we gave Spurs a game and scoreline flatters them. Really proud of how we dug in at 2-0 down. Terrible luck and everything against us. So close to 2-2 and the roof coming off.
