I find it incredibly harsh that people are criticising the team after yesterday. 11:14 - Feb 23 with 4067 views | Simonds92 | Unfortunately our right back had a shocker. But we've gone toe to toe with Spurs and although we've been beaten 4-1, we could have conceivably won the game if we were more effective at crucial points in the game. 90% of the game we are well in it. It's just the story of our season, I think we've almost been good enough. The difference is the better teams maximise the chances they get and are so clinical. As much as I don't enjoy everything that comes with the Premier League, I've quite enjoyed a lot of our performances. The level of this league is ridiculous and for us to compete as well as we have, I think, is impressive. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be a case of nearly. If we'd have signed Palmer in August and / or had competent officials, the noise around our club would be a lot more positive. I can understand criticism after Southampton and things may not look so bleak if we'd have taken the 6 points off them that we should have done. But ultimately, I think we all need to stay with the group and show understanding of the levels we're up against and the level we're playing at ourselves. Not too long ago we watched our team put up a pathetic performance in the Championship, getting relegated with no style of play, no passion and very little quality in the team. We are a million miles away from that this season. [Post edited 23 Feb 11:17]

I find it incredibly harsh that people are criticising the team after yesterday. on 11:21 - Feb 23 with 2590 views | Herbivore | We've had two seasons in a row where we've won over 60% of our games and it's been great, we aren't used to losing and people are finding the reality of the Prem hard to stomach. You're right about yesterday and in some ways it's a microcosm of our season, played well for large parts of the game and we were competitive but we don't always take our chances when on top and we are prone to conceding too easily. Our mistakes have been punished in ways we haven't been capable of punishing others. A 4-1 scoreline on paper doesn't tell that story, but that's been the experience of the match and of the season. Hard not to be frustrated by it, you're right that there's lots to be proud of but it's more difficult to get that perspective when you're watching your team lose most weeks and often it's like watching the same film on repeat.

Worth nothing that if we beat wolves there is only 2 points in it. And we were cheated out ot 2 points against Leicester by yesterday's disgrace of an official. It is fine margins.

I find it incredibly harsh that people are criticising the team after yesterday. on 11:36 - Feb 23 with 2501 views | Wallingford_Boy | I think losing 4-1 to a side most (including us) have beaten comfortably this season is the reason people are, quite rightly, criticising the team. Yes there were some good performances, but defensively we are just so naive and it’s cost us big time this season.

We didn't beat them comfortably at their place. They didn't take their chances whilst we, unusually, took ours - the opposite of yesterday.

Most of the criticism both outside the ground and online have been aimed at recruitment and tactics. Back to back promotions have given McK, Ashton & Co a huge amount of goodwill that they should thank their lucky stars for. You don’t have to look far - we are perhaps the only club in the bottom 6 who have not booed the manager and team off the pitch. I watched the earlier match between Leicester and Brentford, at FT the ground was probably only a quarter full with the remaining fans shouting dogs abuse at the players and management “f***ing useless” “ F off” “not fit to wear the shirt” et al
I find it incredibly harsh that people are criticising the team after yesterday. on 12:00 - Feb 23 with 2413 views | BlueOura | We have shipped 4 plus goals 7 times this season and won only one league game at home, it's not really surprising that there is criticism. Spurs also have a lot of injuries, a makeshift defence, and yet still ran out comfortable winners without having to play particularly well. I think people are getting a little fed up with the notion that we are 'competing' when for the majority of games we are not, at least not to the degree that we actually look like we have a chance of winning. We have to allow for the gap and what we were up against in terms of quick promotions, but even accounting for all of that I would have expected us to have won 3 or 4 home games at this stage. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I don't think they should 'thank their lucky stars' for the success they have had here, we should be grateful for what they have achieved. We have no right to be booing our team off or giving them abuse, they are giving everything to stay in this league, abuse from the fans is only going to make things worse.

Let’s be honest we clapped off our relegation to League One, we’re hardly the sort of club to boo a Premier League relegation, even if we do only appear in it once every 20 years.

We didn’t lose yesterday because of the referee but Christ alive he was shocking.

What will be will be. We will be back. IF we do go down.

He may have had about 20 assists over the last 2 seasons, but he watches the ball and has no idea where his opponents are. Both Johnson goals were his fault and in my opinion this has happened too often this season with him.

I don't know why he came straight back into the side. Townsend did well at Villa.

The philogene one Is split it seems but most are in agreement about Godfrey. Think the majority feel we performed well overall.

I think Leif's performances have dropped significantly since Newcastle. I'm not sure he will be one of the players who stay in the prem to be honest, but he's proven how effective he is going forward in the division below. I would have played Townsend yesterday. However, there needs to be a level of understanding that Leif has just jumped 2 divisions in 2 seasons and has developed a hell of a lot since we signed him. He might be good enough in a year or 2.

West Ham and Newcastle some of the best teams in Europe is a stretch as best Losing at home and handing over 4 out of 9 points so far to statistically the worst Premier League team in history? I can count on one hand the games we were competitive And going down there’s no guarantee we’d come straight back up. Just ask teams like WBA, Sunderland, Hull, Boro, the scum etc who all have been in the Prem not too long ago and are now stuck in Championship quagmire. I’m not even considering the worst case scenario a la Luton and Sunderland 17/18. Same thing was said when we were relegated to League One “just a one season tour” “we will smash the league” “HMS Piss the League” how long did we languish there?

Looking back at our first XI on opening day of 2019/2029 I'm amazed, in hindsight, that we thought it would be a stroll. Holy, Donacien, Kenlock, Woolfenden, Wilson, Rowe, Garbutt, Skuse, Downes, Jackson, Norwood

I think you're being incredibly hard on the team. To say there's no fight about them is a disgrace, IMO. We put up our best home performance since Man United yesterday, but came up against a team regularly in European competition that was just far more clinical than us. It was nothing to do with not wanting it... the first 20 minutes of that 2nd half, we were right in their faces. Had Woolfie's goal been legit, I think we'd have had them firmly on the ropes.

It's plain wrong to suggest we have no fight or character. It all comes down to a gap in quality, especially yesterday, but to a man every player put in a shift.

Absolute nonsense. You see a team fighting that's just not quite cut out for this level... yet. Very different to watching a team that's too good for a level. Makes a team look like they've got a lot more 'fight'.
