Show no humility or regret but act like attack dogs, doubling down on their mistakes and lies. That Hesgeth interview after the Signal leak was vile in every way. Not only are these people incompetent, carrying out an authoritarian agenda, they are absolutely despicable human beings. Horrible in every way

For anyone that hasn't seen it.
It's a shocker.
You can only be shocked by anything MJT says if you don't know anything about her. This is about as civil as she gets. I've never seen a stronger case against Intelligent Design.
If you don't know who she is, you have to check out her wiki page. We get some really weird politicians from podunk districts, but she is on another level.
That reporter knew exactly what was going to happen.

Can't bring myself to watch that as I'll probably throw my phone against the wall, but I already know it's the standard 'FAKE NEWWWWWWWS' BS in lieu of any sort of argument or defence.

Genuinely curious here, as I am not a big believer in karma.
Why???
I know there’s no scientific proof that karma exists as a universal force, but I’ve seen enough in life to believe it’s real. Not always instantly, and not always in obvious ways, but over time, actions seem to echo back. When I’ve put good out into the world, it tends to come back, sometimes through people, sometimes through unexpected opportunities. And when people act selfishly or cruelly, life often catches up with them, not through some cosmic punishment, but through broken trust, lost relationships and business. It’s not about physics, but about patterns, the kind that show up when you pay attention. Karma, for me, is more than a belief; it’s a reminder to live with intention.

Shameless, cold, manipulative liars truly absolutely disgust me on a very visceral level, whether they be world leaders or family members.
I suppose there's a tendency for people to cheat and lie to get to the top, so those at the top are often cheats and liars, but there's always been a modicum of decency behind them somewhere - even the likes of Bush, Cameron, Thatcher even - that prevents outright, bare-faced, shameless repetitive lying and the absolute inability to take responsibility. It's essentially very, very childish.
I don't know if there's been some sort of societal swing driven by competitive consumerism or some sort of pathetic tech-driven egomania, but it certainly feels like that same shameless manipulative deceit pervades society, organisations even families a lot more than it did even twenty years ago. Everything seems so geared up to competition that there's little room for humility, self-deprecation and a willingness to say 'I was wrong'.
It really disgusts me and feels like it's part of some sort of end game.

The strange thing is that Christianity plays a large part in the philosophy of such people but I don't detect any of the teachings of Christ in their political or personal behaviour.
To take one example,
Do to others as you would have them do to you.— Luke 6:31
And the Old Testament includes the following
"The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the native-born among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God."

No one should judge the strength of another person's Christianity really - we're all weak and fallible. However, I wouldn't pay any attention to the cloak that they wrap themselves in - its clear & obvious nonsense.
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Recently watched a documentary where a UK journalist followed this Alt-Right Christian bitch of a woman around the US/Mexican border, where she video documented those arriving, inflated the migrant numbers for video clicks and grifted for more money from the gullibles for further videos and to "keep her campaign" going.
There was another group there handing out water, blankets and general assistance (you know, proper Christian values), who bitch lady also filmed for her viewers, classing them as enablers whilst one of the bitch team told the journo that he wouldn't give them any water even if it looked like they were dying.
I will say that I'm a massive US fan, visited many times, travelled all over and met some truly wonderful US people.
Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

I think if you're good to people then those will be good back directly and perhaps indirectly but wider than that I think it's largely BS. However when I've been wronged I do try to take solace in that something bad will happen to them, totally contradicting myself. I'm not sure how as I'm an atheist, but there you go.

I listened to a podcast recently that you might want to check out. Maria Ressa was the guest on Jon Stewart's show.
The very very short version of it is that social media and data tracking has been used to create algorithms that manipulate us into hatred of one another. It's the AI version of divide and conquer.
I know we've gone through very divisive periods previously and come out stronger, but I can't say that I'm optimistic about what's to come. My hope is that we survive the next few years and then the pendulum swings into a new progressive era. My fear is that inequality continues to escalate and that the masses eventually revolt against their oppressors. It might end up in the same place, but it would involve a lot more misery.
As an aside, I'm a bit troubled by some of the rhetoric around here recently. What the United States has been falls under the umbrella of liberal democracy, but that's mostly down to the fact that the definition of 'liberal democracy' is so broad and open to interpretation that laying claim to inclusion is enough for membership. Much of what has allowed the United States to remain relatively free from tyrants has been tradition, but this administration is not following tradition. This is a power grab that will test the constitutional integrity of a system designed 250ish years ago and the outcome is uncertain. What's happening is not 'the will of the people' and it does no good to conflate what this administration is doing with what Americans want, because what Americans want has never really mattered that much when it comes to politics.

Even before Trump, the US is a flawed democracy (in 28th position) in the 2024 Economist Democracy Index.

It's deflection and aggressive attack. She chose to go after Biden, immigrants and the liberal UK as well as the journalist personally. It was quite well summed up by the (clearly shaken) journalist afterwards when she said "she chose to go after problems (perhaps that the UK) in her mind has". Problems in her mind sums it up.

I gather the Botox-bag has a track record of aggression/going on the attack which of course is what all of the orange sht gibbon club do as a default setting.
They are making enemies inside and out of that country so I guess it’s a race between whether they’ll get overwhelmed by their enemies or can muzzle; destroy them first.

One of MTG's finest moments was when she complained of "Nancy Pelosi's gazpacho police spying on members of Congress".

I’m with you here Gavlar.
It’s easy to talk karma from a comfortable environment. Try is not in a war zone or refugee camp and I suspect there’s less belief in the concept.
They seem to revel in their incompetence, it's something they're proud of. If there's one thing I will always associate with the Trump administration it's abject incompetence. It's no different to the Scaramucci waffle during his first term.

I would suggest that it is like the proverb "he who harbours hatred and seeks revenge needs to dig two graves." It is like road rage and the reaction to some on internet messaging boards! Sometimes it is better to leave it alone and realise sooner or later someone will end up hoist by their own petard anyway.
For a Christian, it is a case that we should recognise God will judge with full knowledge of all the facts. Romans 12v19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

A bloke who did some work on our house told me how much of a Christian he was before over charging for a poor job. He may well face the Lord's judgement when the time comes but I'd much rather have my money back.
