Budgies have sacked their manager. Shame. Never mind. on 11:57 - Apr 22 with 3683 views | Bellevue_Blue | It's not the end of the world, more dysfunction/ turmoil, pay off 2+ years of the contract etc. New manager likely wont have time to properly analyse playing group, another shoddy transfer window and more importantly when they start next season terribly, they wont get sacked the week before the derby to create a new manager bounce. Still, at least they'll be able to call 2025/26 a 'transitional season' when Jack Wilshere leads them to another 16th place finish next year.

If Russell Martin goes there then he will have them playing some good football and be a threat again. He's a good manager and the shoe fits. But let's see what they actually do.

I suspect they'll get relegated next season, unless they appoint an experienced manager. There's too much trouble at mill for an inexperienced manager to handle. And too much delusional expectation in the face of the blindingly obvious still.

Martin fell out with the club and left them in quite raw circumstances, so I don't see it being him. I think the easy option is probably Jack Wilshere. Someone told me their sporting director had him waiting in the wings as a coach in case Thorup floundered. I partly wonder if Wilshere's presence on Thorup's shoulder has been an issue in the dressing room for a while. But hey, who gives a f00k!

Martin is too much of a fraud to take on a club where there's actually work needed doing.

Hopefully, Wilshere always comes across as thick as pig sh!t whenever i've heard him speak, should suit the Norfolk hot seat perfectly. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Martin wouldn't be the end of the world. For all the beautiful possession footy, he's never really overachieved and put together a really great season. Even last year, they probably underachieved. And Mckenna is unbeaten against him ... MK Dons 19/20 - 18th 20/21 - 13th Swansea 21/22 - 15th 22/23 - 10th S'oton 23/24 - 4th 24/25 - 20th

Always feel that when the bloke who gave you the assistant manager job in the first place gets sacked, it's a sh1thouse move to take on that role to follow. Lack of principles. Yes, I know we've been here too.

I don't think Thorup gave Wilshere the coach role. Wilshere is mates with their sporting director, Knapper.

Unsure, but I don't think the Budgies would be overly enamoured to have him back. I think it's nailed-on to be Wilshere, personally. Gary O'Neil will definitely sniff around the vacancy too, given his ex-Scum links too. [Post edited 22 Apr 12:29]

Surely Dyche has higher ambitions e.g. Leeds or Burnley when they sack their managers in November.

The boy Knapper is to blame for much of this. A totally wrong appointment from Day One and has zero 'real' football experience. The Americans now need to contact Danny Rohl and pay whatever it takes for him to take the job.

Is getting promoted, even if it's via the play offs underachieving though? His style of football has always been executed at all the clubs he's managed at. At MK, they probably would've got promoted that season had he stayed, but Swansea was a good offer at the time. He was building something with Swansea and they missed out on the play offs in 22/23 by 3pts, putting together a really strong end to that season when it looked like it had clicked and come together. Then he got offered the Southampton job and got them promoted. I think they would've been better off keeping him than sacking him this season, but I'm sure he will be good wherever he ends up next.

More turmoil up the road is great to see and any decent manager will go for Saints, West Brom, Leicester ahead of a relegation threatened budgie team At least they still have their 16 years
