I don't see McKenna going to Spurs but 16:15 - Apr 23 with 1960 viewscbower

If Bournemouth, Brentford or Fulham lose their boss to Spurs, I fear he may well be in the frame for the vacancy that creates.

He might be. I guess it depends how much other club’ owners put on circumstances at this club (budget, back to back promotions etc) and how much on this season’s disappointment.

Interesting one. My predictions are terrible, but I have a feeling he will still be here next season.

I agree I feel more confident he will e here next season after two promotions his standing was at high. Although we was expected to struggle I don't think he has enhanced himself to Premier league clubs and this season he can rebuild himself here and become a better manager for it.

I'd expect him to stay for now as it would be a massive gamble for Levy after what's happened there and those other clubs more likely to go foreign again (as they do with most of their players as well, their scouting networks being what's scuppered us really.)

Yep, he’ll do very well at a team in that middle section of the PL.

And if an established team come calling, he’d be off

I believe he would jump ship if a offer come I'm just not sure it will but who knows. Ramsey left we got Robson.

Yep, Ramsey left and over 5 years later we got Robson.

I was there when McKenna's ITFC won in the Premier League at Home. Our only home win in a year.

Having signed a bumper contract last summer (£6m per year), I'd have thought the compensation another club would have to pay would be too rich to release him from his contract, especially one outside of the top 6? Compensation was £4m when he was on £1.2m per year and he now earns 5x as much...

Surely they'd just find another talent from abroad..?

Am I dreaming?

I wonder if Brighton might come back for him if they end their season on their current poor form. Stranger things have happened.

Large amount of the reported £6M was performance based on staying up . . . at least that was my understanding.

Should we just get Liam Manning in now?

The worst thing for us would be another summer of speculation. Personally I don't think there will be any interest him, he's hardly enhanced his reputation, if anything his stock has dropped.

I honestly can’t see any PL club coming in for him.

This season has shown he just doesn’t appear to have the depth/understanding to take counteractive measures.

There are just 2 ways of play he sticks to no matter what.

One would assume a more varied game management structure would come with experience but I have a strong feeling such coaching oh fck it, I really can’t be bothered to finish up.

I'm pretty relaxed about it.... on 21:19 - Apr 23 with 1250 viewsMarshalls_Mullet

This summer we are probably in our strongest position for years (squad wise versus the league we are in), so if he does leave, then I think there will be plenty of good managers keen to take the job.

The teams that can afford him won't want him. Both Man U and Chelsea have shown it's not worth any team out if the top 10 taking a risk on an unproven at this level, and he is proven. Taking a team like Ipswich out of league 1 isn't seen as a big deal. Taking us to Premiership put him on the radar, but thus year he hasn't shown anything that would entice other clubs that might rake the risk, to pay what he now earns.

I don’t see him going anywhere unless he is sacked by Ashton if not in contention for promotion at Xmas.

His stock was high last summer, although allegedly he spoke to clubs, we don’t know if he was actually offered any other jobs. Ashton panicked slightly thinking he is one of the best young managers around and we need to offer him a bumper contract to stop him leaving but I think other clubs realised he didn’t have it in to manage at the very highest level. This season he has proven to be a one dimensional manager who doesn’t have a plan b and just makes like for like substitutions but doesn’t influence the game by tweaking formation during the game and other pl managers sussed out how we play week in week out. The biggest disappointment has to be the loss to Southampton, team who finished bottom with one of the lowest points tally and wins in premier league history. I also have to say recruitment was poor, excluding Delap and Ashton and his recruitment team have to take responsibility for that as much as McKenna. We bought young players who could increase in value, but sadly delap will be the only one we will make a decent profit in, I see the rest being sold for a lot less or being loaned out next season.

The Brighton job was his if he wanted it last summer.

Agree on the speculation front. If he’s going to go, I’d rather it happened the day the season finishes so we can get sorted nice and early.

You’d hope after last summer, Ashton and co have a ready made list if people to call straight away if it were to happen.

Would love to prize Liam Rosenior away from Strasbourg but can’t see that if they finish as high as they currently are in Ligue 1.

I'll agree with the Southampton point but think the rest of what you took the time to type out there is complete bobbins.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

As an old git, I just can't reconcile that Bournemouth, Brentford & Fulham are more attractive an opportunity than Ipswich. They may temporarily have better players, but ITFC are a bigger club. With the right structure and management we will eventually overtake them.
