Worst refs in the Premier League 07:19 - Apr 27 with 3437 viewssohamblue74

It's a lengthy list. Who am I missing?

Robinson (ref Leicester)
Salisbury (ref Newcastle)
Oliver - consistently terrible
Attwell - consistently terrible
Harrington (ref Brighton)
Jones (ref Aston Villa).

With honourable mentions for
Clive Thomas (ref West Ham, FA cup)
Keith Hackett (ref Norwich, Milk cup).

I only saw the sky highlights but Palmer looked lucky with that disallowed goal. Seemed to flap at it.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Guimares backed in and impeded him. It's fairly soft but more of a foul than their penalty.

I thought the same. Plenty of posts of where we feel hard done by but that was a decision that went our way.

I'm still a believer that things level out over a season. The top teams appear get more decisions because they are in the attacking areas and have more possession. A simple law of averages.

Robinson was a different level of sh1t from all the others this season, totally inconsistent in deciding what was a foul or a yellow card from minute to minute let alone between matches.

The decisions average themselves out in the sense that for every iffy decision a side gets against them, the opposition benefits, so one team is always benefiting from another's misfortune. However, there is no reason why this holds for individual teams, one team might only ever benefit while another might only ever suffer, and the evidence doesn't suggest that we've had our fair share of fortune with decisions for and against us over the course of the season.

Yep, I thought the same. Their pen was an obvious pullback too and Johnson was an idiot. Do we can’t complain about any of those.

It's undoubtedly an odd one, Herbers.

Just being away and underdogs you'd expect little sympathy. Perhaps all we got yesterday.

Their pen was the slightest of touches. The bloke threw himself on the ground. Last week we were told that having handfuls of a shirt as our player literally ran in and then out of the box, was not enough.

Indeed. It's daft from Enciso but he brushes him with his hand, the contact is minimal, it's mad that VAR intervenes for that but didn't intervene when Chaplin got completely wiped out against Leicester. The Johnson one, to me it looks like there's contact and that's a very harsh yellow. I don't think anyone could argue we had the rub of the green yesterday with decisions.

Different types of instances in my view.

The Chaplin one was a collision in a crowded box. I think 50% of those get given, maybe even less. I maintain that everyone went over the top appealing so much for that and we only complain about it because we didn't win the game.

The Enciso one yesterday was cynical. Whether or not it should be given is highly debatable, it's lovely piece of cheating, but Enciso is making it quite clear he wants to impede Murphy's run.

Your take on the Chaplin incident is, in the words of Big Mick, bonkers. It wasn't a collision in a crowded box, he got completely wiped out.

That is one hell of a take. A clearer pen is hard to envisage. It wasn't a "collision" in the sense of it being accidental or contributed to by both players either.

I don't believe in decisions evening themselves out.

We are still due some decisions from last year!

It looked minimal contact live and on first replay, but there's an angle from behind the newcastle goal looking up the pitch which showed a bit of a pull more clearly.

Robinson was AWFUL for both the home games I saw him ref us in this year.

Anthony Taylor against Man Utd at home was by far best ref all year.

Why would it be corrupt to give a decision that is always given? It's pretty obvious why it wasn't mentioned.

If the player is lightweight enough then it won't take much for it to look like they've been 'wiped out'. Chaplin, like it or not, is a very lightweight player in this league.

I think it looks awful in slow motion, but in real time i can't help but feel chappers is just not quite strong enough. I'm not nailed on in that view, I just think there's enough doubt that excuses it not being given. If you start comparing it to other decisions that are given then obviously it starts to look more glaring, but that's a can of worms.

Its a silly view. It is a contact sport, but that does not mean you have to stand up to being quite literally wiped out, at almost waist level, by a player with no interest in the ball.

Add Peter Bankes to that list. That was a shocking performance. Booking Dorgu for being kicked after he won the ball was the highlight.

I am as annoyed as anyone with the amount of poor decisions that have gone against us this season, especially since VAR should be stopping them.

However, I am also concerned about this anti-referee narrative in football generally. Referees are human and make mistakes. It won't help the overall standard at all to encourage an anti-referee narrative in general. Who would want to be a referee?

The other thing with the Chaplin one was that the referee on the field had his view of the incident obstructed, so couldn't possibly have had a clear idea of what happened. It was exactly the sort of situation that VAR ought to be there to make sure was got right.

I'm sure if it was an Ipswich player instead of Bruno Guimares it would have been mentioned!
