Nice comment from a geordie on 07:57 - Apr 27 with 5090 views | Basuco | We went out for dinner in Newcastle after the match wearing Town badged fleece's and loads of Geordies came up to us and spoke and shook our hands, lovely City and great fans. Also the first ground I have been to this season where there were no half and half scarfs on sale, no tourist fans, all genuine football fans and lovely people. [Post edited 27 Apr 8:02]

Nice comment from a geordie on 08:20 - Apr 27 with 4885 views | The_Flashing_Smile | Apparently our fans are cringe and embarrassing, according to some on here. I think they just don't get football support. Looks like our fans were an absolute credit to us yesterday. Well done all.

Not all supporters are constantly angry at the team for not quite being good enough, mate.

I think that's the best expression I've seen of the frustration I've felt at a lot of comments over the second half or so of this season.

Or it’s you that’s the weird one for still not understanding after all these years what supporting your team really means.

The thing is that we don't start singing when 2/3-0 down though. As it is, I found our reaction at the end, and the way McKenna and the players reacted to and appreciated it, quite moving.

That's not true at all. There's been plenty of singing throughout especially at away games. I think rational fans realise that it's just as important to back your team when the chips are down but the effort is there. Without the fan's backing I don't think players would have same desire to keep going and I could seriously see one of those top teams putting 9 goals past us again.

Ironically it would be one of the very few places I wouldn’t mind seeing a half and half scarf - on the statue of Sir Bobby

You can tell that the players are genuinely taken aback by the reception they get, even after a thumping. Imagine being one of those players, and what they are thinking "If they back the team like this after we've just been beat 3-0 and relegated, because they recognise the effort and commitment, this is somewhere worth staying". We will keep players who might otherwise have left because they can see the unity and the support in good times and bad. Many players struggle with mental health and confidence. If I was a player, that would mean a lot to me.

I have sensed from McKenna's reaction to the fans at the end of recent games that that support is a factor in his decision to say he wants to stay here.
Nice comment from a geordie on 19:30 - Apr 27 with 2809 views | ArnieM | The whole squad and Mckenna stood for ages, clapping us.... absolutely loads of Geordie fans stood and applauded us Toen fans at the end of the game, and when we sing, "There's only one Bobby Robson". There's genuine affinity between the two sets of fans. Loads of them were saying you vome straight back up ( before the game). One guy saw me and my friend walking away after the game wearing our Town shirt, and stopped us and simply said... " That's some support you had here today,". Such a friendly and genuine bunch of fans tbh .... I wish thrm well in the Champions League ( assuming they'll make it )...

Yeah that’s definitely the situation here. I stood at anfield watching a huge % of the away end drips video YNWA, some join in singing, didn’t sing a single Town song… then at 3-0 down, start to sing. A group near me actually started singing ‘have we fcked your FPL’ after we scored. What does that even mean? Call that want you want, I think it’s bo11ocks. MATE

Always loved the Geordie fans. Whilst Suffolk fans tend to be (traditionally at least) a bit more reserved, I've always felt the two clubs share a little in the way of cheerfulness, humility and sportspersonship. Corinthian might be the word? Of course there's the Sir Bob link but I think it goes a little deeper than that. Hope they do qualify, and also win the league next season. HTL.

One of the few things that I didn't think was wonderful about our last trip to Wembley was sh1tloads of Ipswich fans singing YNWA towards the end of the game. Baffles me still why it happened.

It’s only weird if you place conditions around your support for a club. Maybe some people aren’t only in it for glory and wins. Maybe some people support their local club because it’s their local club. I’m not judging anyone who only shows up for the good times. All are welcome and that means we have all sorts.

I guess they didn't sing any Town songs too? (not to excuse the other bit though) Maybe Texters saw me singing feck off feck off rather than walk on walk on.
