Been told that 09:37 - May 8 with 6650 views | Chris_ITFC | Literally EVERY block in the ground has returns / ST trade-ins for Brentford. And Leicester got all the way down to 5 points. After a season of so many clashes about ticket availability and priority, how quickly things change! (Not a dig at anyone, but after so long away, you’d think people would make the most of every last second of Premier League football.) (Yes, I know, football fans be fickle, gasp!)

Me ‘Babe I’m off out for the day, going up to Leicester, look after the kids and dogs for me please’ Her ‘why? thought we were already down?!’ Me ‘yeah but I need to see a loan player once more and also 75mins more of Delap if he starts, if not it’ll be 10mins once Hirst is shattered’

The main reason I’m not going. We’ve just had our two longest away trips of the season within 7 days of each other which comes at a reasonable cost once transport, food and drink etc is factored in. + King Power is such an undesirable stadium to go to, similar to St Mary’s.

I'd get in a time machine to watch Gio for us one more time. And Jonas Axeldal. You're a liar if you don't agree.

The thought of the 8 hour round trip on Saturday for a meaningless game, with another 4 hour journey on Sunday for my son’s cricket, did it for me. Leicester and West Ham are both Sundays so cannot do because of cricket. Put in plenty of miles home and away this season and will again next so don’t really care what anyone thinks about not going to the next three games.

Brentford can’t do due to cricket but looking forward to Leicester as we live quite close. To be fair it sold out much quicker than I thought being on a Sunday and as we played them last season. Only about 50 were left at 5+ APP | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Been told that on 13:03 - May 8 by Ace_High1 | Football and sport for that matter is all about context and it meaning something. That is why the last 2 years was so good in March, April and May as for the first time in best part of 20 years those games mattered. Nothing worse than watching a match with nothing riding on it - I sacked off friendlies about 30 years ago for that very reason and these last few games are sadly not much more important than friendlies. I still want us to win all 3 to make the table look a bit more respectable, but I can't say I feel that high or low when I see the score and can't justify spending the time/money to go. |
I think sometimes people forget the the time aspect. For me to go to a game, its effectively a whole day. Have to leave about 11am and don't get home until after 8pm. With that comes extra cost above the ticket prices so for a meaningless game really, its a lot of effort.

I get it a bit, but really I can't understand it. The whole point of a season ticket is to be there if you can to watch Town. It's not just about going when games are important. That's the joy of it - watching Town whatever the situation. Everton and Newcastle were probably two of the best games of the season for us and both essentially dead rubbers. Every match with Delap is a privilege and it's always interesting in these games to see what is going on and to try and second guess KM thoughts. We really deserved at least a draw in the reverse fixture. Great away day spoilt.

Oh yeah, no shame at all missing Leicester after Everton/Newcastle. I just assumed they would fly once they hit the 15+ who haven’t had much of a sniff all season.

Been told that on 13:01 - May 8 by Bluedandy | Why is this such a surprise? The Brentford game is a dead rubber, we're relegated and it's all over. Playing Premier League minnows who possess the Hollywood glamour of Vera Duckworth is not exactly box office. Admittedly, there is some jeopardy, Ipswich have never lost eight league games at home in a row. History of a sorts is in the making, but who wants to witness that? Yet despite one of the most wretched home seasons in memory, Town's average league attendance is the highest ever. I'd say take a bow Town fans. |
Quite looking forward to watching them actually. Very impressive manager, some exciting players, absolutely doing what we were hoping to emulate ourselves. The fact they aren’t a ‘big club’ makes it all the more impressive. Plus I like watching Town, naturally.

Bear in mind that as well as being a dead rubber, it's one of the two grounds we also visited last season. The Southampton game got down to 10+ I seem to remember.

Each to their own of course. But I don't understand why a local Town fan with no significant travel costs would choose not to go tomorrow, especially if their ST doesn't sell on the resale site. Obviously life happens, but if the alternative is to sit at home and just not bother going - I don't get it.

Yes, the appeal of new grounds will have been a big factor this season for many, so hopefully it will be much easier next season for those who struggled to get away tickets this season, especially given the likelihood of kick-offs at inconvenient times. And this even though there will be a sizeable chunk of people who will start the season with a large number of points. [Post edited 9 May 10:56]

At best I think you should be limited to how many times a season you can out it up for resale. Fair enough on the odd occasion you're ill or on holiday etc. but the point of a ST isn't to go to all the sexy or important games and flog off the others because you don't fancy it. Having a ST is a commitment.

How many ST holders do that though (don't go just because they don't fancy it/the game's not sexy enough)? In my experience ST holders tend to be the most loyal, supporting through thick and thin over decades. The resale system gives a chance for non-ST holders who wouldn't otherwise be able to go. If there was no resale you'd just have empty seats there. Surely everyone's a winner with this system?

Yes this is definitely a downside to that system, and i've said on other threads, while its in place, No-one is going to give up their season ticket as long as its likely to get sold, which currently it is. Even if you could only make half the games, you can sell the rest on there and end up just paying half a season ticket...!

There are different points of view to this. On the face of it, I agree there should be a limit to the number of times a ST holder can put their seat up for sale on the resale site. But supporters can't be expected to keep every Friday night, Sat lunchtime, Sat evening, Sunday and Monday night free for when games are moved for TV. This argument doesn't apply tomorrow of course.

Realistically, though, how many people go to the bother of buying a season ticket and then only go to half the games? I don't know but I can't imagine it's that big of a problem.
