Had a bit of context that one, after the year(s) before and losing to the same opponent in a thriller 12 months earlier. It's also always the last home game so i am a bit indifferent really. depends on circumstance. I was surprised not to see a huge one at SOL.

Given it was a last minute goal....yep, thought the same.

Been out best part of a decade as well, no idea how many playoff appearances in that time but think they lost to Luton. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Had we got to Wembley on the other occasions where we played the second leg at home, including the previous season against Bolton, I bet a pound to a penny there would have been a pitch invasion. And why not? Yes, I was surprised the Sunderland fans didn’t pile on after that ending.

I'm fine with it when the ultimate goal has been reached but you may still be a Championship club if you lose. Our last two EFL seasons, do it! I got the hump after the Exeter stuff from some of our fans, glad it was all forgotten after Huddersfield. For sure against Bolton for us as well back then. However, if end up in the playoffs next year (lets hope not) and won a second leg at home after just getting relegated, I wouldn't really think that would be worthy. Hence the context.

Yes, Championship semi final two years ago but they got promoted from League 1 through the play-offs the year before that.

Given we won the league six years before, by that logic there should not have been a pitch invasion in 1968 when we topped the old 2nd Division. But there was just as there was in 1992 when Lyall’s team did the same. Football is about the joy of the moment. If you follow the big clubs like Man City, Liverpool, Norwich and Chelsea winning stuff is normal. It’s an entitlement. For the lesser lights, good moments rare, which is why I was surprised the Mackems didn’t do it.
Pitch invasions for a semi-final win? on 08:43 - May 16 with 796 views | Papillon64 | Bolton was different, it was a climax to 3 years of nearly getting there and disappointment. The cork definitely came off the champagne bottle that night. Only issue these days is the decline in peoples social skills, dont goad or attack opposition players /managers or do any thing stupid as witnessed in more recent years.

I love the way you’ve slipped in Norwich as a “big club” I suggest you give up on what you are on and stick to the proper medical regime.

Well, they’ve won two tinfoil cups, the ‘Friendship Trophy’ 14 times and the Mr Clutch Trophy in Mike Bassett England Manager. No other club has done that. I rest my (trophy) case.

We didn't win with a last minute goal though. That just took it to extra time. Anyway, that night was mental - still the best/most ridiculous/nerve wracking game I've seen - and the pitch invasion completely justified. If Charlton want to invade too good on 'em. [Post edited 16 May 10:00]

Ditto....oh how I miss the old North Stand, the sh!te beer, grotty toilets....lovely times. That night it was so packed in the North, some fans were getting stretchered out in the crush every time we scored...then going over to wave to the Bolton fans, definitely the best night at Portman Road in my 50 years, IMHO.
