Swansea, didn't see that one coming! on 17:34 - Jun 14 with 1427 views | HighgateBlue | Really really disappointing. We won 4 league games last year, and 3 of them were with O'Shea and Burgess starting together. Greaves: 18 starts, 1 win Burgess: 10 starts, 3 wins Let that sink in I hope that Greaves is the future. I hope that he's money well spent. But I genuinely believe we would have been at least as good a side without him thus far, and we may have paid an 8 figure sum for a downgrade. Such a shame, and I think Swansea have played an absolute blinder. Good luck to big Cam (when he's not playing Ipswich), and what a great servant to the club. I hope we've not thrown the baby out and kept the bathwater.

Begrudgingly agree. Greaves looked out of his depth for most of this.

What did everyone say about Burgess after his first season? Greaves had to deal with the premiership and a big transfer tag on his back... We all thought £750k on Burgess was ridiculous back in the day.

Greaves looked very good before his injury, but didn't really begin to approach his promise from earlier in the season after returning from injury until the last couple of games. He also needs to work on his positional awareness. I think he has huge potential though, and was immense the previous season for Hull. Another year in the Championship, working with McKenna, will help him, and if we're back in the PL for 26/27, he's likely a better long term prospect than Burgess (no disrespect to Cam - just the passage of time).
Swansea, didn't see that one coming! on 17:59 - Jun 14 with 1310 views | Ryorry | I’m quite shocked, and very, very disappointed at this. Thought him our most reliable defender, his presence on the pitch was always reassuring, and I think we’ll struggle to replace him. Probably a difficult decision for KM and MA given our ambition and his desire for a 3year contract, but some defenders only get better with age. I’d have been happy to keep him.

they'd have been keen to keep him too, but not so keen to guarantee him a starting place...

His first injury was very avoidable also …. Advice was ignored that he should’ve been left out of the training match against Palace that he ended up picking that injury in.

Wasting your time unfortunately. People spent all season refusing to understand the difference in level between the Championship and the Premier League. Add in the sentimental aspect of people being more attached to the players that have been here longer then the newer players have no chance of being appraised in a fair light.

Swansea, didn't see that one coming! on 18:31 - Jun 14 with 1157 views | JammyDodgerrr | Don't think he's that big of a loss now, and the fact he has gone to Swansea alludes to that for me. Great guy, and almost single handedly steadied the ship in the second half of the league one season, but definitely we have better options now and will be looking at them in the future. We clearly only wanted him for cover at this point.

Well let's give him a chance playing outside the prem. A league where almost all of our players looked out of their depths. He is only young.

For me it's all I can see. I do appreciate we have some emotional supporters but these are the bitter pills we swallow as we make progress.

Swansea, didn't see that one coming! on 19:10 - Jun 14 with 1004 views | JeremiahBrown | I can remember O'Shea saying that he liked playing alongside Burgess. Also, I don't think that Greaves played as well once Alex Palmer arrived, which may be because he commented once that Alex Palmer talked too much. So I think that Burgess was the better option out of the 2 and he never let us down. This is very disappointing. Also, near the end I think McKenna realised that Burgess was better, but it was too late then and now he's gone.

Dump of a city? Is it? “A club going nowhere”. Just remember where you were when Swansea were 7 years in the premier league, winning a major trophy & playing in Europe. 2 playoffs as well since relegation & now new owners. Signings such as this prove the club are moving in a positive direction. Sounds like sour grapes to me, & a typical “jilted boyfriend” response.
Swansea, didn't see that one coming! on 19:10 - Jun 14 with 1003 views | Sarge | Well this has worked out strangely. Spent £15m on an inferior replacement and driven a better player into the arms of another team for free. That he chose Swansea of all places makes it even more confusing.

Palmer talked too much? Or would you rather play ahead of Muric who doesn't talk and you have to second guess what the GK is going to do all the time? Madness.

This looks like Hladky 2.0 all over again. MA perhaps isn't the master of deals he thinks he is. (Unless we already have a replacement lined up for Burgess who is an upgrade, which I really doubt at this point of time)

I think our woeful business in both transfer windows last season somewhat addresses your statement.
Swansea, didn't see that one coming! on 19:31 - Jun 14 with 924 views | textbackup | My favourite current ITFC player. Gutted he’s leaving us. O’Shea CB and Axel, if they all go, we have more work to do than I thought. Best of luck big Cam… I will always smile when I think about that left footed pass down the line to Leif, a thing of beauty

Swansea, didn't see that one coming! on 19:45 - Jun 14 with 883 views | mellowblue | To go from National league in 2016 and work his way up each league all the way to the Premier shows a hard working guy who adapts to the challenges a higher league requires. I will miss him and I suspect we will miss his leadership. Apart from O'Shea and Morsy (who both might leave) , we lack leadership on the pitch. It is a concern.

We were obviously going to have a lot of work to do. Burnley lost 16 excluding loans after their relegation, Sheff Utd 17, Luton 11. We’ve got plenty more exits to go yet.
