Yep. Spent a long time chasing Broja, then negotiating with Chelsea right up to the final hour, before pivoting to Nelson - hardly a like for like - who rejected us for Fulham. Not to mention the amount of time spent chasing Hirst in the summer of 2022-23 leading to the panic signing of Ahadme when he chose Blackburn. It's good to have ambitious targets but there has to be a degree of realism. And we need to be better at knowing when to walk away.

Don't blame him if he did, it's a job, but conversely if he did move to us and then he immediately jumps to another club after we win promotion back to the Prem, don't be surprised. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Worth remembering on Broja that up until the medical turned up the unknown achilles issue (and no one was reporting on that until afterwards) it was a case of successfully holding out for a long term target. Think at the time we initially agreed the deal with Chelsea (before the medical) Phil was expecting him to go straight into the squad that weekend. The medical issue was really unfortunate timing but it wasn't a case of chasing an unrealistic target.

Josh Brownhill - Burnley…. on 12:57 - Jun 15 with 2086 views | JakeITFC | Gut feel is that Nixon has good contacts in the north west but probably an agent looking to a get few more quid out of Burnley rather than anything too firm from us. I mean it's more than likely bobbins, but I'm not sure we can conclude much. Burnley might be taking the mick, money wise, or might want to lessen his role in the prem. Plus he's out of contract and wants to make the most of that, and wouldn't be the end of next season, so not so sure he needs to run off after this season. Nobody knows what's going on with him.

Josh Brownhill - Burnley…. on 10:48 - Jun 15 by Axeldalai_lama | By no means is this true or likely or whatever, but nobody knows individuals motivations. Did anyone predict Burgess would go to Swansea? But he got a 3 year deal, high up the pecking order you'd assume, first choice, influential etc. Maybe Burnley are being a bit stingy and he doesn't want to be down the pecking order and sat on the bench at a different prem team. Who knows. |
Would think with Burgess we couldn't guarantee a place and I would imagine that he would have wanted a three year deal as he has got at Swansea. Players who get to 29 want a three year deal but paying him decent money to sit on the bench isn't using valuable assets very well. A different situation with Brownhill as he would have a guaranteed place. As a side with grand ambitions we desperately need a few players coming through the academy as that is the way to make huge sums of money or save ourselves large fees for players.

Unless Burnley think they can do better, we had a number of players in this situation did very well in the championship Chappers, Broadhead, Burns, Burgess but we were looking to upgrade. We kept them but I think we would have sold if we had a back up plus 1 we thought we more prem ready Having said that I would be surprised if he came

Josh Brownhill - Burnley…. on 10:25 - Jun 15 by E_I_E_I_E_I_O | There has to be some players out there....especially the type who have played a few seasons in the prem and champ who prefer the champ. Being in a team that wins often as opposed to losing often and scoring far more goals. They have experienced playing at the big grounds and now prefer that winning feeling over anything else. Of course most players would not be this way inclined but there must be some. |
Doubt it. Who in their right mind would accept Championship wages if PL ones are on offer? Personally can’t see any mileage in this rumour. If he doesn’t get a move to an established PL club, he’ll stay put I reckon
