Walk the Cleveland Way and then you take in Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay (as well as Saltburn, Whtby and Filey too.)

Yeah, it's a lovely route. Sutton Bank, the White Horse and Rievaulx are some in-land highlights

55 still in prime 😂.

I'm 55 and a weekend on the lash in Newcastle would probably require a fortnights recovery time tbh

Reminds me, have a weekend in Dublin coming up with some old drinkimg buddies, suspect it might be a bit more sedate than last time we went away.

Poll: This new lockdown poll - what you reckon?

Instead of the Guinness you need to switch to cheese...because in memory of long ago poster Paul Young

I bumped in Michael Le Vell last time I was there. He said he was considering growing back his 'tache.

That's good to hear, I trust he was accompanied by Jimmy Tarbuck ?

The fox at Ousden and Affleck arms in Dalham are fine pubs.

They are indeed. I miss the old defunct Hargrave Bull and Chedburgh Marquis of Cornwallis. Both places were regularly frequented by Don Warrington.

FGS don't go to the Lakes or other popular spots at this time of year - programme on R4 a few hours ago saying how rammed they are & how fed up local people are with traffic jams, no parking for their own local shopping etc. etc.

I'd stick a pin into a large map of the UK, and whichever non-touristy spot it landed on, go and explore that. Places like the Lincolnshire Wolds can be v. beautiful, and many towns/cities are under-the-radar interesting if you go on a walkabout.

I'm sure their economies could do with a boost too, and you'd probably be more appreciated than in the over-run conventional tourist spots.

Newquay and down that way

Except Newquay itself… gone downhill in the couple of decades.

Anywhere 40 minutes drive up or down the coast and you can’t miss.

I've never seen the TheBlueGnu reply to himself/herself before so I suspect not, although I wouldn't be surprised if Bernard Youens had some involvement.

I think Blueas realised the mistake and tried to cover his tracks by replying to himself.

Never had the pleasure. There are some absolute crackers around these parts. The Boot in Dullingham is great too.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Check out the Rugglestone Inn down in Devon. It’s inside Dartmoor National Park and it has a lovely cottage they rent out just a few yards stroll from the pub.

It’s fantastic in the summer. Try the locally made cider and their pub meals are massive.

You can literally stumble back to the cottage and clear your head the next day with loads of great hikes.

Cheers everyone. Some amazing suggestions where to go too. Northumberland and Lincolnshire ones look good.
