Good decision on pen.

If that was in the Prem it would get given.

That little backheel was sublime, the more I see of him in this tournament the more it seems he might be too good for the championship. If that £35 million release clause is true I could see someone thinking he's worth it, because he will absolutely shine in the championship next year and for a young English talent you could easily add another 20 million to that price tag at the end of the year, especially if we go up.

Hutch is great .. loved watching his raw talent flourish under McKenna… always get more from him than you expect from a player of his style and position… I really hope he stays .. he never gives up.

So much better with Stansfield playing. He's more Delap-esq

He’s put in a real shift to be fair, flagging a bit now. He’ll cause a lot of problems at championship level.

I’ve been impressed with Stansfield, he’s a constant nuisance for the Spanish defenders.

I think I'd be pretty disgusted with the officials after this game if I were Spanish!

Excellent performance, bit of hope for WC 2030 after the humiliation next year.

Nowhere near enough of an obviously wrong decision to overturn the Spanish penalty in the first couple of minutes, and concerning the England penalty at the end, the only touch the goalkeeper had on Rowe was when Rowe kicked his leg out at the keeper.

Not taking away from the performance by our U21s though, we definitely were the better team and more than deserving of progressing to the next round.

Great game to watch after some of the dross from recent play off/England international games. End to end - hardly any possession needlessly given away. Great tempo throughout.

You could argue the toss over the penalty at the start but O think the right decision was made in the end. But the oneon Rowe was nailed on the second Rowe got his foot on the ball.

If Rowe hadn’t jumped over the keeper, he would have been cleaned out by him. There were no complaints by the players when it was awarded. I would assume that the referee saw the challenge as careless, there does not have to be contact. All covered in Law 12.

His arms are at hius side. Its hit hard from pretty close. Not intentional. Not making his body bigger. Not a foul.

Nope

He's holding his hands behind his back
When the shot is hit from apprx 10 yards away (so not close) he lets his hands go, so his arm begins to move towards the ball/away from his body

Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted VAR pressured the ref to overrule his original decision, as it worked in our favour (for a refreshing change!)

I just think if this all happened at the other end, I would be furious with the decision being overturned

The rule talks of unnatural positions and making the body bigger. Doesnt happen. Its hard and close.

Not intentional. Not a foul.

The arm did not move away from the body, defender moved his body but arm stayed static, replay showed it clearly.

This is where I'm extremely lucky

I have eyes through which I can see

You confused me where you say "the replay shows it clearly", as this suggests you also have eyes that work

I'm very happy that ultimately the decision went in our favour (for a refreshing change!), but our defender was holding his hands behind his back. When the shot was hit from apprx 10 yards away (not point blank), he let go of his hands, so his arm moved away from his body/towards the ball

If this happened at the other end, I'd be furious with VAR pressuring the ref to change the decision

Sorry you disagree, but when I'm right, I won't be told I'm wrong!

Didn't see it.

But..... the Prem is probably the world's worst benchmark for what constitutes a pen.

The league is full of cheats who are indulged.

I like Quansah, shame he’s at Liverpool really. Rather he was playing every week somewhere as England need strength there, we’re well short especially with Stones seemingly unable to get fit.

Bayer Leverkusen are signing him.

Whilst I agree that the correct decision was made in the end under the current rules. I would prefer the rule to change to if it hits your hand/arm then it is automatically a foul. Very much like feet in hockey. I think it would make everything so much easier. The worst football rules for me revolves around the word intent. Get intent out and simplify the game for the refs.

Hockey?

Hockey?

Wash your mouth out.

That's just a sport for people who can't play football.
