Thank God for immigrants on 19:45 - Jul 1 with 2522 views | J2BLUE | I have mentioned a few times the study about the decrease in Islamopobia once Salah joined Liverpool. When you think of the average Reform voter I think it would be very powerful to have something like this in every major football city/town. Liverpool - Salah, Van Dijk, Coleman, Beto Manchester - Fernandes, Dalot, Haaland, Rodri Could do historical ones as well with the likes of Toure, Cantona, Kompany, Yorke etc etc. I would happily contribute to crowdfunding for something like this. Reform are a threat that need to be taken seriously. Sport might be one of the few effective strategies we have.

Have you? Is that right? (About Sala). That’s great and I can believe it. There have been plenty of studies that show people are more favourable to immigrants when they live in areas where there are more and they get to know them. Lets hope our Sam is having the same effect (not as an immigrant though obviously, just in terms of countering Islamophobia). [Post edited 1 Jul 20:14]

Wasn't there another thread you needed to retract misleading statements from before going all Labour on this one too?

Good on him. And good on some of the scousers for belatedly realising nationality or religion doesn’t necessarily define you.

Not sure how else to define people with a dislike and/or prejudice against foreigners. As you (predictably) ran away from the sitters thread without explaining your muddled reasoning, perhaps you can now expand on your enlightened and superior thinking on the subject, especially since you’ve popped your head (once again) above the parapet on a completely different thread. I await (probably ineptly) your wise counsel and insight on the subject….

again you are smearing anyone who disagrees with you with the they "dislike and/or prejudice against foreigners" line. it's not how they explain their views, it's how you seek to belittle and delegitimise them. it's not even clever enough to be a trick. [Post edited 1 Jul 22:33]

How do ‘they’ explain their views then? We’ve got the serial downvoter, Bluebudgie, who’s clearly incapable or utterly ashamed of articulating any of his views, when asked. Then there’s Benters, who can’t explain his prejudice other then dabbing the occasional ‘this’ when someone praises Farage and still finds racist comedy from forty years ago relevant and amusing. I’m leaning towards the conclusion that you’re nothing more than a pathetically smug apologist for these individuals…

I like the shoehorning of song titles and lyrics into a thread as much as the next man, but that was a little weak. If you're gonna do it, do it right...

The other day I saw an ant running really fast away from a spider. I’m no expert but I had a feeling that the ant was very nervous whilst near that spider. So much so that I could see it shaking like some sort of jitterbug. I’ll get my coat.

True, I don't suppose we need *that* many musicians especially if you're not a wham fan but . . . if they are working in our NHS or other jobs that very few of the non-migrant UK population seem to want to do/are skilled to do then I would be glad to see them, especially to offset the half million emigrants we are seeing. Thank God for immigrants on 09:30 - Jul 2 with 771 views | ITFCSG | I don’t see what the problem is - discrimination based on nationality, religion and/or ethnicity shouldn’t exist in the 2025, period I guess in the UK it’s down to poor gatekeeping and the illegals that result in the general negative perception of anyone not “British” (i.e. White, Christian, native English speaker) it’s a convenient outlet to vent I lived in Singapore for more than a decade, proper multicultural society with zero racism and discrimination. That’s what happens when there is a cohesive effort by the government to integrate the population including new immigrants. And proper gatekeeping

excellent, we are discussing the criteria for admitting migrants. high skilled, working for the nhs a very definite yes. legitimate refugees under our international obligations a definite yes. low skilled, economically inactive, going into low paid low productivity work, it's a no from me. if we can set out the criteria for allowing migrants we then get a basis for determining numbers. the thing about the op and the first few replies it that it again tries to frame the immigration debate as nice people who like foreigners and see the value in migrants v. nasty xenophobes who have an irrational dislike of anyone foreign. then the line goes the latter just need to be educated. in reality the debate isn't: migration yes or no, it's how many and what sort. yes we do have emigrants from the uk - which is why the 3 million in 4 years figure i refereed to was net migration.
