Brentford made an approach to Ipswich Town on Monday for Omari Hutchinson, although a deal is felt to be unlikely at present. Hutchinson is on holiday after being given extended time off by Ipswich following England’s triumphant Euro Under-21 campaign at the end of June. Brentford see the 21-year-old among a small number of potential replacements for Bryan Mbeumo should he join Manchester United. Hutchinson has a relegation release clause worth £35million, which Brentford fell significantly short of meeting. That expires on Tuesday and so far he remains an Ipswich player. I guess it's going to be key what Omari is thinking when he comes back from his holidays. If he comes back and says he's not up for the Championship and wants to move I could see us entertaining a structured deal starting below the £35m release clause but taking us to or beyond it with add ons. Hopefully he won't be agitating for a move and we'll still have him here next season. |

I’d probably be looking to give him a new contract with a further release clause if we fail to go up to try and tie him for this season. I think he’s worth more to us this season than any fee we’re likely to receive | |
