tom collomosse reporting brentford have bid the 35 mill

omari bid apparently on 07:37 - Jul 16 with 4919 viewsStokieBlue

The release clause was supposed to have expiry yesterday at 5pm so we still wouldn't have to accept it if that was the case.

However if it was at 35m I suspect we would seriously consider it.

Guessing this refers to a bid submitted yesterday that didn't make the media until now.

This coming seasons Brentford are a very different proposition to last seasons Brentford, for Omari to weigh up.

Yup, this is my guess as well. Just because 5pm passed yesterday didn’t mean that Brentford hadn’t already activated it with the news now only breaking today.

That would be a massive blow, especially with the Morsy news yesterday as well.

It would free up more PSR headroom for 2 more quality CM options. I think we'll also be a favoured option for top 6 Prem teams to send young attacking players on loan knowing that they'll be developed well.

If Omari wants to go, I think the club would accept even less. Still baffled why we decided to let Kuwait have SM for free. They must be loaded so just a million would’ve been nice.

wasnt the bid yesterday reported to be below the clause if they had bid 35m yesterday we could not reject it

It doesn't mean that he will go, just that we have to entertain the approach.
Brentford without Frank, Wissa, Norgaard & Mbeumo will be a far less appealing option, and more likely relegation candidates, than the Brentford of lsst season.

That bid was Monday afternoon and only reported yesterday. So they may well have decided to pull the trigger on the full £35m and the news only breaking today.

By the time the agent and Morsy have taken what's theirs, it would be a few hundred thousand. Not really worth it.

Hoping that this journo has got his wires crossed and is rehashing the stories about Brentford's earlier bid. Would love to keep Omari. That said, if we get £35m that's some serious spending money to bolster the squad elsewhere.

It's still at least another season in the PL.

Much as I hate to admit it, he'd be mad not to be tempted, if true

Probably to reward Sammy for the the great leadership he has given the club both on and off the field. Will be able to negotiate a good signing on fee, he deserves it in my opinion

I think we’ve got a lot more to do this summer. We need 2 centre mids if Morsy goes. We need a Delap replacement, and quite possibly a Al-Hamadi replacement. I’m sure McKenna will want to replace Hutchinson if he does and question marks for me over the right back position (Johnson being linked with a move elsewhere) and keeper position.

Busy few weeks ahead I think!

He’ll go. Based in London again, PL football, bigger wage. Personally think Brentford will be struggling next season.

Bumbling bees reportedly missed deadline plus KM wants to keep Omari.

Looks like we'll be swappping places with Hounslow's number one bus stop in May.

With a bit of smart scouting, 35 million could get us some 4-5 excellent players in (including loans).

thought they'd missed it. Looked on their fans forum - mixed feelings. Many thinking he isn't worth more than £20m. Personally would like to keep him but if he goes not sure this is a forward step as with all the change there they'll be fighting for their lives and quite possibly be one of those relegated (hopefully alongside leeds and Sunderland) and we'll hopefully be swapping places.

I’m sure it could be we’ve got a top player and money to spend regardless.

I think regardless of the release clause, £35million would probably be enough to get it done, especially if he wants to leave. I think he’ll have seen Delap move on and feel like he should be playing in the prem as well next season. If the release clause has expired prior to their bid then it might put us in a better position with regards to add ons and sell on percentage. £35 million is a serious amount of money at this level and would easily cover 3/4 quality signings
