I note a thread on the OinkUn which says of TWTD 'One thing I've noticed is their incessant need to repeatedly claim that they are a 'Big Club'. It's constant. Daily mentions. Almost every thread has it somewhere.'
I'm not going to go in hard on this, but is there any truth in that at all? I can't say that I can remember seeing a 'big club' mentality here at all, ever.
I know we mock the budgies, and (like the bookies) most of us think we're one of the favourites to win the Championship this year, but that's not at all the same thing as a big club mentality.
I'm trying to stay open-minded in case I'm wrong and we do have that, but to me it just looks - not even like an exaggeration, or a big exaggeration - but completely and utterly invented.
Am I losing the plot and it does exist here, or is this just completely invented twaddle, and if so why? Is it just insecurity?

The trouble is, when you are a small club looking longingly at a bigger club with a much more significant history and trophy record, it is only human nature to be envious as a result of an obvious inferiority complex.

Just like any fanbase, plenty of clowns around, some think we are a bigger club in the grand scheme of football than we are, some talk some laughable nonsense, and some talk a lot of sense.

Yes, I suppose I've seen a little bit of that, but it's 'bigger', never 'big' and, quite rightly, those assertions are usually overwhelmed by posters saying something along the lines of "well they're an established PL club and consequently have a bigger pull than us the moment." | |

This comes from a site that also claimed that we all thought that we would end up in Europe last season. If anything most fans thought it would be a success just to avoid relegation.
