… £20m offer in to Middlesbrough for him and we are offering £35k a week to Hackney himself.
Edit - also mentions that whilst he is yet to be tempted by the offer as he wants a Prem move, but no Prem club is offering what we are in terms of fee and wages.
I form all my opinions late, and on the basis of 5 minute compilations on youtube, so I watched this:
Having been super excited about Ruiz a couple of weeks ago, I am now positively throbbing about the prospect of Hackney. Quite similar players (based on my exhaustive research as mentioned above), aren't they, sharp and aggressive and dominant and decisive. But Hackney with the benefit of being England-acclimatised and probably more powerful.
He's definitely got the physicality for the league above and seems to be very decisive, strong and quick into contacts whether that be tackling or skinning an opponent. At Championship level (all of those highlights in one season!) he looks way faster and sharper than the opposition plus has pace to carry decisively and a through ball.
Yes please, with bells on, or Ruiz if we can't or BOTH if we can with Ruiz as understudy and either next to Matusiwa.

I'm spent.
Experience of the championship is absolutely crucial for matusiwa's partner while matusiwa gets used to it.

Wow.. can’t see a Prem club matching £20m for what’s more of a project signing at that level.
Mid to lower PL clubs would pay that.
Wharton to Palace, for example.
We bought Delap, Clarke, Philogene, Hutch, Greaves for 15 to 20 million for young, unproven championship players.
PL clubs are going to have the advantage so if we don't get a good feeling and Hackney is holding out for a PL move then we might just have to move on. If we've put the cash on the table then we should know soon enough if he's interested.

Question is, can we spend that sort of money without an Omari sale?
Considering he’s always been a target, and probably our top target. I don’t think it’d been sales dependant. We have parachute payments and sold Delap.
Hutchinson may or may not leave (probably still will) but that would be further money to reinvest.

Do Palace spend £20m on him to partner him with Wharton though?
Bearing in mind they still also have Will Hughes (ageing like a fine wine), Jefferson Lerma, Daichi Kamada and Cheick Doucoure.

View from the Boro end seems less favourable, but as you rightly say, money talks so who knows....
If any of it is true then I can't imagine we'd show our hand to other clubs about our finances by offering 20 mill without Hackneys agent letting us know he'd be interested.

It was an example that PL clubs will take a punt on a player like Hackney. Is it much of a punt? He's a England u21 international and highly rated. Take the point, though.... our selling point is he'd be a starting player.

Have a feeling our key signing will br in January window . Hutch to either stay, or be sold at the last minute this window.
