Stuart Watson big interview with HALO founder and CEO… on 08:40 - Jul 28 with 3567 views | DarkBrandon | It is interesting. I had no idea what they did, despite being in a similar (but adjacent) tech field. An interesting combination of excellent tech insight and development, combined with some Brent-esque communications.

Nice business clearly but the thinly veiled stench of hubris is very clear. "It's not about the money'. Followed by a picture of CEO playing chess with Richard Branson in the BVI. A man who hasn't been relevant for 25 years. Very Brent-ish. [Post edited 28 Jul 13:52]

They wont be paying Premier league money like Ginge was last season. Its written in contracts the price increases and decreases with promotion and relegation.

Stuart Watson big interview with HALO founder and CEO… on 19:27 - Jul 28 with 1876 views | wrightsrightglove | Interesting about moving into an office in Ipswich. Really hope they can do a deal for part of the old Debenhams building. Bring some money and workers into the heart of the town. They’d have free reign to adapt the building to their needs and as much space as they want

Why is it the trendy thing to do, to knock something/somebody at every opportunity. I read the article, all I thought was, bloody hell this guy has done well, his business is clearly a boost for Suffolk and its a really decent sponsor for Ipswich. Whilst you decide there's a stench of "hubris" and calling him David Brent. Bizarre

IT Service Management. So this is software that allow you to create customer tickets that a service desk would you to track tickets and other components listed below. The would be other modules for Incident,Major Incident management, Requests, Change Management, Release Management for software deployment management , Problem Management, tracking problems on services, software/ hardware. CMDB for data around assets, laptops, servers, buildings.

Yes. It was an internal tool for issue tracking that they realised they could sell externally

Service Now are the main players in this field, however their software is eye wateringly expensive and needs “professional consultation support” to make most changes. As the article implies it’s also become slow and clunky as time has progressed. I work with two clients currently, one uses Halo and is very happy (about 300 seats) the other uses Service Now and isn’t happy (7,000 seats). Problem is the old “you never get fired for buying IBM” mentality still exists in IT and someone I know is part of an RFP for a new system and despite all the scores favouring Halo they still prefer Service Now because “they are the biggest”. But like asking why the Citeh fan is a Citeh fan despite living in Suffolk and never going to Manchester in their life…..

The company I work for uses ServiceNow, their biggest competitor, wonder if I can get them to change and get some free tickets?!

Yes in short. Not sure on your comprehension of IT matters so forgive me if it sounds like I’m treating you with disdain, I’m not on purpose. An Incident is an issue for a practitioner or a service. Calls are made to a help desk or logged via email, chat. For example, word won’t open, can you please assist. A request is to do something that needs to be done, like a software request to install something on a laptop. Be added to a group for access etc.

No it's absolutely fine. I have a general understanding but since I did IT ( just using it rather than producing it ) the language has changed.

In fairness i think the use of 'ticket' is an Americanism, we would have called them 'reports' or 'tasks' when i started in IT.
