How do people see this panning out?? He has an unrealistic asking price for the club, stripping all the assets and alienating all the fans. How do they conceivably get rid of him without raising £100m? Its a shocking situation whatever you feel about the club, but do you think anyone will save them?

I’m sure someone, somewhere will step in. It’s such a historical club with a large fanbase. But £100m? Lots to do for any new owners re the playing staff, infrastructure and stadium.

I cant see anyone paying what he wants. Its way over the odds esp given the state of tbe squad and the stadium now.

He's a vindictive owner and I can honestly see him letting the club go to the wall just spite the fans.

One would hope the 100m price is just trying to flush out as much money as possible but if he sticks to his guns thats it. He must understand that relegation immediately knocks of millions of pounds worth of value.

If you consider that Gamechanger got us for £40m and, although suffering from Evans' lack of investment, we weren't in anywhere near the same sort of state as Sheffield Wednesday.

Maybe the market has changed a little, but it feels as if £100m is at least double what the price should be.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

At this point, anyone coming in is essentially buying a club they know is likely to become a L1 team, with a high likelihood of becoming a L2 team, with the transfer embargo they have. No L2 team is worth £100m... (correct me if I'm wrong).

Maybe £25m?! with the history etc? Still feels pretty steep considering the amount it will take to sort the infrastructure and stop the slide down the leagues following consecutive relegations (assuming they are next allowed to sign players in Jan 2027 and arent able to save the season).

I can' see anyone coming in to save the club and I can't see Chansiri doing the right thing and lowering the price to a reasonable price.

Speaking to a Wednesday fan yesterday he said they were planning a pitch invasion/sit in for 1st game.

He really is fearing for their future and thinks they will be gone by Xmas

Just seen that their North stand has been closed, some shady goings on with safety certificates being forged.

This may be the end

He'll drive them to L2 and a fans consortium will buy them for nothing.

Is that any more than twitter/social media rumours? He'd be in a whole load of trouble if that were true.

They’re an absolute bin fire at the moment.

I always used to like Weds, but some of their fans have tarnished that a bit in recent years.

Nevertheless, most of them are sound. What Chansiri is doing there is a disgrace and I think he would quite happily send them under if he doesn’t get his way.

Same at Morecambe. Saw them several times last season while knocking off the last of the 92, and sat with them at Bromley on Good Friday to complete the set.
Very friendly, welcoming bunch of fans we got chatting to and what Whittingham has done to them is also a disgrace…. Yet despite his track record, the EFL still allowed him to pass their fit and proper person test.

The new Independent Regulator can’t come soon enough.
The Prem says it isn’t needed and that football can run itself. It clearly can’t and the only reason the Prem doesn’t want it is because they’ll have to distribute more of their billions down the food chain.

I think the problem is that how do you assess the value of something like a football club? When you think that Delap was transferred for three quarters of the price of this club in 2021 and what this club is worth now, is £100m to a Sheikh Rattlenroll such a huge amount in 2025?

Sheffield Wednesday has the potential to be a very big club. It has history and I presume assets like a training ground let alone Hillsborough. In any case, I suspect Chansiri will accept a lot less than that just to get out.

Leicester got a right touch with their fixture being next week.

They'll prob have a new owner etc before we play them

Yes we don't play them until our 22nd league game. Which I initially thought was in the second half of the season. I then remembered what division we're in. Sigh...

Still with a 3 window paid transfer embargo though, and naff all senior players.
I reckon we do ok against them.

They're going under aren't they? So all the games they play will end up being nulled.
Tragic for the decent fans. They do seem to have way more than their fair share of absolute bell ends, and as a result my sympathy for them is much reduced from what it would have been.

Bigger picture - the Regulator needs to get tough and introduce powers to instruct liquidators if a club fails to pay players and staff for more than 2 months. hen the liquidators find a buyer at whatever it is worth, taking the control away from psychos like Chansiri.

A club like that will never go under. Too big, too important. They’ll be bought and will be all the better for it.

Agreed but the longer Chansiri continues to be a d1ck the bigger the rebuild and investment needed.

Wendies have struggled to stay in this division recently, then lucked out on Rohl. The current situation is way way worse then we were under ME.

If a new owner took over tomorrow and transfer restrictions eased... its going to be a real struggle to avoid relegation. Let alone the investment needed to keep the North Stand and season ticket holders.

What a mess to be frank!

I'd love to have more sympathy but some of their fans have been stand out idiot that makes me care less. From the attacking our fans, throwing stuff at officials and kicking off when their player is retrospectively sent off, there is the stuff around Bradley Lowrey. Accept its a minority but doesn't help their image

Yes, they’ve got their bone headed idiots. Most clubs do, not least because actions of football supporters to an extent reflect society.

We got an unhealthy minority that seek to undermine and destroy our own players, whether it’s a goalkeeper in a pre season friendly or after his first game against Man city or a 21 year old forward carrying an injury. Has any Wednesday player’s dad felt the need to write publicly asking supporters to lay off his son? I don’t know, but I’m guessing it’s rare. What does such things do for our image?

Wednesday have a good, passionate support base. Better and larger than most and that will be a serious attraction to a buyer. I know the ground is falling apart, but that just means more opportunity for a serious investor to do something with it like Birmingham City’s have.

I hope for their decent supporters, including the ones I’ve met and had a laugh with, a takeover happens and they get rid of Chansiri sooner rather than later.

I think it is going to end badly. There are no mechanisms to save Wednesday, only him selling the club on. He can sit tight let the club get thrown out of the football league and then sell the land off.

Cruel though it is for Weds, a big name needs to go bust to actually make something happen to protect clubs.
The likes of Bury are inconsequential to the wider football world.
