KM said, “Omari, with the speculation around his future at the moment, he didn’t feel mentally in the right place to come for the game."

Remember words can hurt and we don't know everything. In a country where men's mental health is damaging and killing men, perhaps we all need to take a breath and be more measured in our response. Remember that this is a sport we enjoy following, and while we may become tribal about the club, we must remember that we, like those employed by the club, are humans with complicated lives and different pressures and means of dealing with them.

The guy has also only had about two weeks off two incredibly intense competitions with the Premier league campaign and then the U21 tournament. They were surely tiring for the mind as well as the body.

Very true.

It's just difficult to comprehend i guess for us minions lol on how or why it must be difficult to decide that 40k a week and being a loved player isn't enough for players and that they always need more.

I'm all for players moving on for wanting more football or moving on at the ends of their careers. But he's only just started here.

But you are right.

Surprised the club actually came out with this to be honest. All they needed to say was he had a knock and leave it at that. Obviously there would have been speculation but nothing out of the ordinary.

Maybe the club are getting irritated behind the scenes at what has been rumoured to be going on? I think it’s inevitable he goes now but they haven’t done him any favours if he does stay.

McKenna may not want to peddle even white lies. Bad for the credibility if found out.

Plus he likes to explain situations in interviews, rather than making no comment (so long as it doesn't involve transfer targets).

Although many fans focus on how much players are paid, and feel that it is the money that always drive their decisions, elite sportsmen are very usually driven by a desire to complete with the best. We don't offer that right now.

Whilst true. He's got england u21 duty. Hopefully prem football in just 12 months time.

Has another great season with us and we get promoted or even don't he'd still be in with a prem move next summer.

You could apply this comment to life in general. People don't tend to take that advice, though.

That's true also, and I'm sure what the club has been selling to Omari as the reason to stay.

However, it it equally a year of not competing at the top. Also, and I don't think Omari is close to the senior England squad yet, if an opportunity was to arise through injuries, he's less likely to be considered if he's playing in the Championship.

All speculation by us of course, but it does illustrate all the angles the player must be taking into consideration, and why it's not such an easy or straightforward decision.

You mean honour the contract the player was very happy to sign only a few months ago? Yes, i agree with that, as old fashioned as it now seems to many.

Not competing at the top level off the bench for twenty minutes every other game perhaps (OK, less likely if he goes to Brentford as Mbuemo's replacement but is that nailed on ?)

If he stays with Town he will be one of the first names on the team sheet and get the opportunity to shine, stay in the U21 national team - England play the first game for the 2027 tournament against Kazakhstan on 8th September so as Hutch will still be 21 then I think that entitles him to play all the way to the finals, get more game time and remain under McKenna's tutelage. Here's hoping our charitable approach pays off.

If your head isn't in the right place, I'd hope that they wouldn't make you come in. A lot of employers are far more progressive with mental health these days.

Why are people so upset about him not traveling to a pointless friendly? I’m much more concerned about who we are going to get in! A lot had false hope over him I think. The deal will get done but it might take a few weeks to hash out, he doesn’t want to risk injury.

If we'd have been relegated unexpectedly, then Hutchinson might have had more of a "point"

Surely when he signed last summer, he knew there was a good possibility of relegation.............hence the release clause. Therefore he knew this was a likely to happen. He should have "mentally been prepared" for a season in this league if no team came in for him.

Clearly trying to push a move. I hope we hold out for whatever we think we want (and don't be greedy). Surely the £40m mark would be about right for everyone.
