…by nicking Stansfield?
Long hand over mouth convo with Dara after the match. Been a target in the past.

I have to say I was not overly impressed with him on Friday. Spurned a couple of decent chances and tapped in from 6 yards.

Can't forget he cost them 15M quid

They’d want £25million+ for him, they’re not in a position where they need to sell and I’d say he’s nowhere near that value or what we need and he wouldn’t want to come here without being a guaranteed starter every week. So it’s a no from me

I thought he was awful. Even the tap-in he seemed to be trying to put over the bar.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Yes, I very much noticed that conversation at the time.

Not sure he has the physicality we ought to be aiming for though.

I hope we splurge £20m on a young, big, powerful 9 from abroad who's a serious project for PL, but plenty good enough to make up a big enough set of (potential) 9s with Hirst and Akpom and Szmodics in a mega emergency, allowing Al Hamadi to leave on loan or otherwise.

If we wanted a scrapping, fox in the box, wind up merchant, then Jamie Vardy was available on a free this Summer, and is better at hold up play than Stansfield.

That's how I see him: a lower-ceiling Jamie Vardy.

There is no way Birmingham would sell him to a Divisional rival without a HUGE tax- that is an even bigger deal in American Sports than it is here.

They overspent on him by about £10m and would want to make a profit on him, so think this is a non-starter.

Got all the minerals though. Nice touch and movement. McK will have him up to speed in no time. Could play as a 9, 10, wide. Good replacement for Hutch and adds value to replace Hirst too.

Zero. Think he'll do well, much like he did for the U21s (high work rate creating opportunities for those behind).

Splitting hairs maybe but was that a tap in? Had to really get his knee over the ball, with his weaker foot, and it still only went just under the bar. Arguably an easy one to miss.

I felt at the time O'Shea should have seen it was going to come back off the post and adjust his position.

I'm pretty sure this will come back to bite me, but I don't see what a number of others do in him.

He has a great work ethic, and of course is young enough to develop more, but I have yet to be convinced. I don't think he was particularly effective in the U21s, seems to lack the skill and composure that I would like to see from a £10M player.

Like I said, will probably get proven wrong and he will have a stellar season, but I just can't quite see it yet.

No. Brum are now loaded and dont need to sell, well backed and ambitious so hes unlikely to want away plus hes got a big contract there. They also paid a fortune for him so would cost more than we'd want to pay or than hes worth

Maybe not quite a tap in but it was a pretty open goal (no keeper). Would've been awful for a professional footballer to miss that.

No chance they would sell and to be honest I think we can do better anyway.

Don't think his good enough works like a dog but not great quality.

I don't rate him enough. He was 'meh' at the U21 finals. We could do much better.

Always liked him. Thought we missed a trick not going for him 2 or 3 years ago. Now though, he would be priced way above his true value.
