Travis on the move on 08:52 - Aug 12 by GlasgowBlue | I do fear our obsession (for want of a better word) to get in Premiership ready players for next season may actually end up costing us promotion. I want us to get in players who can get us up in the first place. We shouldn’t be taking that for granted. |
Players with potential to step up to the Prem will also be more than good enough to get us promoted. If we go up, we don't want to be in a position where we're signing a dozen players and completely overhauling the squad again, better to be in a place where we can focus on adding genuine quality in key areas.

You want the best squad possible when the window shuts though. That's the only point you can really judge our business. There were several on here saying we should be moving on from Cajuste 2/3 weeks ago.

Certainly a bit of a balance, but in signings like Ashley Young, Kipre, Akpom etc I think there's enough evidence we are focussing on the here and now as well.

Travis on the move on 00:39 - Aug 12 by Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | No point letting Mass go if this is the talent we are looking for as a first reserve. Fans have completely forgotten we are a parachute club, I swear. |
Just realistic. Assuming another 'A' level signing for this division we still need a fourth choice CM. That might be Taylor, Humphreys or someone like this.

Travis on the move on 21:57 - Aug 11 by FrimleyBlue | Honestly we should get him in. We've got the two midfielders to progress as prem players should we get there. Let's get a nice solid pro in who knows the league. Is good enough for what we need too. [Post edited 11 Aug 22:00]

He wants to go to Derby and hook back up with Eustace. They have already signed a bunch of his former players.

Travis and Taylor are both midtable Championship players, imo. Not sure our player trading should involve trading one midtable player for another for that fourth CM squad place. Seems a waste of time.

Travis on the move on 21:59 - Aug 11 by berkstractorboy | As good as he was for cover 2 seasons ago, if we needed him now I would say things haven't gone to plan at all with recruitment. |
I agree to an extent, but he isn't going to cost much and imo he's a better bet than Taylor for that backup midfield role. I'd still then be looking to get one more top midfielder in.

I've heard that he really wasn't impressed with the playing time he got last time he was here. Even if we were after him I'm not convinced he'd want to come in to largely be a benchwarmer when he's currently captaining a team. I would have thought a move to be a starter somewhere else in a similar role would be more likely.

Travis on the move on 07:49 - Aug 12 by SuperKieranMcKenna | Little bit patronising. People DO understand, but would rather see some depth through the door than nothing. He’d definitely be an upgrade on Taylor, who’s had plenty of opportunities to prove himself now. Aiming higher is great but as Hackney showed, it’s not without risk - you depend weeks putting a deal together only to be rejected. Matusuwa will take time to get up to speed, Cajuste won’t play every game - we desperately need reinforcements in midfield. We got bullied and dominated by a team who were two leagues apart last season. |
This all makes a lot of sense. We do need depth. Missing out on top targets is one thing but there comes a time when we will need to get bodies through the door. Time is running out and we need experience and leaders. Azor and Cajuste don’t either appear to be that.

Travis on the move on 05:13 - Aug 12 by Warkystache | The Nathaniel Chalobah who is always injured at Sheffield Wednesday? He's likely to be out for 1-2 months having lasted 20 minutes on Sunday. Scored, yes, but then did his hamstring. |
I didn't see he was injured, or scored actually, didn't the game.
