I find this whole thing really weird. Samy had no need to get involved but seems to have a personal beef with the club. Clearly there are two different scenarios there with Broady and Omari, so lumping them together is also strange. Perhaps Samy was reacting to Butcher's somewhat old-fashioned rhetoric. Personally, I think it's been a very tricky situation for McKenna in particular to handle. Effectively, both players went on strike with 'sore throats' and 'illness'. So the club has done what they wanted, moved them on, got a decent profit and we continue to re-build the team. We should just leave it there. My take on it and based on some recent news reports
Forest given permission to speak to hutch, terms agreed
town were offered 35mill but we stalled as wanted more
we've finally agreed on the 37.5
Morsy probably means we should have just taken the 35 that was offered and this whole mess wouldnt have happened, all for the sake of a couple mill. | |

To be fair, on reflection I think a big part of it is that he just wants to defend Omari and point out that it's a bit more complex than it might look.

I like Morsy as much as the next Towen fan but I can’t help but think the first half of this is nonsense.
There’s absolutely no suggestion anywhere that Towen did any of those things so Omari had no right to affectively go on strike. All we wanted was for him to do the job he was paid to do. The people around Omari are the issue. |
It was great to get a players perspective but i am sure its very carefully worded.
Where I take (minor) issue with Morsy's words is around the point if the offer is close there should be flex with the club. On normal deals I am sure the club may understand the desire to move to certain clubs and possibly flex price. A bit like the reported agreement Sesko had with Leipzig about 'special' clubs.
For Omari he had a clear release clause in contract with specific payment conditions attached to the price. The agent 100% knew all of this. Therefore it's the agents job to make sure interested clubs are aware of all conditions of the release clause. So the club has every right to reject an offer not fully meeting the clause and there should be no suggestion the club could be doing wrong especially as the release clause is likely to be under what the club values the player.
Omari should only have issue with his agent in this case and not with the club. It is wrong for Morsy to infer the club could be culpable, its's clear here the agent failed to do their job.
In all this saga the agent (probably) hasn't done their job well and based on their incompetence then unsettle the player and somehow it could be suggested the club could have made this smoother. Not sure I agree on that. [Post edited 15 Aug 14:39]
