Anyone else a bit p*ssed off? Not wanting to overreact here but the McAteer signing has actually annoyed me. We’re basically spending the entire profit of Omari’s sale on someone our rival deem not good enough. Leicester supporting mate says he’s extremely average and can’t believe we’re paying anything over £5m for him let alone TWELVE.
Approach to this window has been way off it.
Also - have we not learnt from our mistakes? Buying championship players extremely inflating the price? £12m here gets you Kacey McAteer, could get 3x the player abroad for that. [Post edited 22 Aug 9:35]

This is different though, this is a player warming the bench for one of our rivals that we’re spending £12m on.
Plus out of the last handful of players we’ve signed from the championship, 3/4 of them have been pretty rubbish. (Clarke, jaded, greaves). |
I actually don't give a t0ss how some Leicester fans rate McAteer - many are entitled armchair critics, that like to whine about anything and everything. Much like some of our own fans, and well illustrated in this thread.
I trust McKenna's judgement, and have a sneaking suspicion that he will not only fit well into our team, but excel, especially from what I've seen from some of the ROI games. | | | |

Kipre - Highly regarded centre back at this level.
Matusiwa - Strong midfield enforcer which we needed. 4-5 years at Ligue 1 level.
Cajuste - Excellent footballer.
Button - Third choice, experienced goalkeeper that will also act as a coach.
Young - Very experienced. View to a probable coaching position.
Akpom - Good player at this level.
McAteer - I think this is a shrewd signing at this level. The price makes peoples eyes pop, but the Broadhead fee mostly covers it.
And there's still 10 days of the window left where a lot of movement always happens.
We're in the age of instant gratification and it's bleeding into fans desires for newer and better. McAteer hasn't even kicked a ball for us yet and is already being written off. New system, surroundings and management team might really help push him on. |
There's several very good players who were written off by some on here before they'd even kicked a ball for us. Alan Lee is one who springs to mind. |  |

If he’s been brought into bolster out the squad and we get the Norwegian kid as well, or a similar signing then fine.

Completely disagree. We had negativity over Omari and Liam - look how that turned out. The comments from Leicester have been mixed, but as you should know different players respond to different playing styles and one shoudl trust our team to do the scouting and know what is best for our system.

I understand but why wouldn’t they make any profit? They’re not selling for 15M or 21M the two that you’ve mentioned.
Again if they use this and somehow pull off the Millwall striker and this is our Omari replacement then, I’m not thrilled but fingers crossed it’s just an addition and more to come. | |

I don't know how much profit they need to comply with PSR but if you have a squad player you can make £12m on, it makes total sense to sacrifice them before you sell someone like El-Khannouss or Fatawu. It might allow them to keep hold of one of them. | | | |
