This window.. 09:32 - Aug 22 with 2220 views | Blooos | Anyone else a bit p*ssed off? Not wanting to overreact here but the McAteer signing has actually annoyed me. We’re basically spending the entire profit of Omari’s sale on someone our rival deem not good enough. Leicester supporting mate says he’s extremely average and can’t believe we’re paying anything over £5m for him let alone TWELVE. Approach to this window has been way off it. Also - have we not learnt from our mistakes? Buying championship players extremely inflating the price? £12m here gets you Kacey McAteer, could get 3x the player abroad for that. This window.. on 09:49 - Aug 22 by Blooos | This is different though, this is a player warming the bench for one of our rivals that we’re spending £12m on. Plus out of the last handful of players we’ve signed from the championship, 3/4 of them have been pretty rubbish. (Clarke, jaded, greaves). |
I actually don't give a t0ss how some Leicester fans rate McAteer - many are entitled armchair critics, that like to whine about anything and everything. Much like some of our own fans, and well illustrated in this thread. I trust McKenna's judgement, and have a sneaking suspicion that he will not only fit well into our team, but excel, especially from what I've seen from some of the ROI games.

This window.. on 12:54 - Aug 22 by RobTheMonk | Kipre - Highly regarded centre back at this level. Matusiwa - Strong midfield enforcer which we needed. 4-5 years at Ligue 1 level. Cajuste - Excellent footballer. Button - Third choice, experienced goalkeeper that will also act as a coach. Young - Very experienced. View to a probable coaching position. Akpom - Good player at this level. McAteer - I think this is a shrewd signing at this level. The price makes peoples eyes pop, but the Broadhead fee mostly covers it. And there's still 10 days of the window left where a lot of movement always happens. We're in the age of instant gratification and it's bleeding into fans desires for newer and better. McAteer hasn't even kicked a ball for us yet and is already being written off. New system, surroundings and management team might really help push him on. |
There's several very good players who were written off by some on here before they'd even kicked a ball for us. Alan Lee is one who springs to mind.

He cost £11 million. And that is what we are against if we want to be successful. So I make you 100% correct and league tables, results, eye ball tests also make you 100% correct If you’d said Muric and Clarke are the best players in the world the tribal tub thumpers would flood you with a like .., validation and broken souls seems to be normal on here…, can’t process 13 months of evidence. He’s a good player tbf - but yeah, not great value, or strategically what will make us elite. He’s ho. Many are happy pretending Wrexham Preston Cheltenham are the peak of what we can achieve. Sad isn’t it. Europe isn’t even the peak of what this club COULd be. Imagine normalising we couldn’t ever compete with Bournemouth. It’s pathetic.

If he’s been brought into bolster out the squad and we get the Norwegian kid as well, or a similar signing then fine. I’m surprised Leicester would sell, especially to us, as surely they’re going to have to sell literally everyone behind the striker and would need him. Not sure.

Pure profit for them for PSR purposes, can see why they've let him go, especially as they've extracted a generous fee for him.

Yes, I’m not as concerned about the fee as others either, when you’ve seen what he have sold Broadhead for etc. The rest of the points remain though.

Leicester supporting friend reckons they are in a really awkward place financially, along with the potential point deductions, it could be a really bad season for them

Yeah that’s not breaking news but they have about 100M worth of talent behind the striker and this guy usually came on late. Will be interesting to see what their squad looks like in 10 days.

It's not about the actual fee though, it's about the profit they can make for PSR purposes. McAteer will be a £12m profit as he was an academy graduate. El-Khannouss cost £21m, Fatawu cost £15m, so they wouldn't end up making much if any more profit for selling them than McAteer.
This window.. on 14:16 - Aug 22 with 160 views | football | Completely disagree. We had negativity over Omari and Liam - look how that turned out. The comments from Leicester have been mixed, but as you should know different players respond to different playing styles and one shoudl trust our team to do the scouting and know what is best for our system. But always good to write a player off before he's kicked a ball isn't it

I understand but why wouldn’t they make any profit? They’re not selling for 15M or 21M the two that you’ve mentioned. Again if they use this and somehow pull off the Millwall striker and this is our Omari replacement then, I’m not thrilled but fingers crossed it’s just an addition and more to come.

This window.. on 14:23 - Aug 22 with 131 views | TheMover | This time last year you were moaning that we overpaid for Delap. Let the coaching staff work with him, who is to say that Leicester got the best out of him? Everyone on here seem to have "whinging about everything" as their default setting! Until we get to Christmas we have no idea how well things are really going and I cannot recall, correct me if I am wrong, any member of a fan forum being employed by a club because of their superier knowledge of available players

I don't know how much profit they need to comply with PSR but if you have a squad player you can make £12m on, it makes total sense to sacrifice them before you sell someone like El-Khannouss or Fatawu. It might allow them to keep hold of one of them.
