This window.. 09:32 - Aug 22 with 2366 views | Blooos | Anyone else a bit p*ssed off? Not wanting to overreact here but the McAteer signing has actually annoyed me. We’re basically spending the entire profit of Omari’s sale on someone our rival deem not good enough. Leicester supporting mate says he’s extremely average and can’t believe we’re paying anything over £5m for him let alone TWELVE. Approach to this window has been way off it. Also - have we not learnt from our mistakes? Buying championship players extremely inflating the price? £12m here gets you Kacey McAteer, could get 3x the player abroad for that. People questioned the money we spent on Delap and Omari before they signed. I think we should trust the opinion of McKenna etc over that of a rival fan base. There’s plenty of examples of fans not rating a player and them going on to prove those doubters wrong. The clubs got far more right than wrong since the takeover so has earned our trust
This window.. on 09:48 - Aug 22 with 1722 views | CastroSito | There's nothing to suggest Leicester management don't think he's good enough? They've just received an offer that they feel is acceptable. Leicester also need to sell players for PSR. I agree that I think it's an overpay, but he's probably coming in here to do the same sort of job he was there, as a rotation squad player?

This is different though, this is a player warming the bench for one of our rivals that we’re spending £12m on. Plus out of the last handful of players we’ve signed from the championship, 3/4 of them have been pretty rubbish. (Clarke, jaded, greaves).

Surely we’re not going to be dropping another £15-20m on someone else if we’re spending £12m on McAteer though? Maybe I’m wrong. Just cannot believe we’ve come to the conclusion he’s what we need at that price. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Or you could look at it as we’re signing someone who played more minutes in the premier league last season than Broadhead and who’s a good few years younger with a higher ceiling for a not dissimilar price. And he’s also someone who will fit our system and requirements better than Broadhead now does. And to say 3/4 of our last signings have been rubbish is harsh on Philogene and Greaves, all depends on your perspective

We’ve sold around £80m worth of player this window plus we have parachute payments. We have plenty of money to spend.

This window.. on 10:06 - Aug 22 with 1465 views | Guthrum | Where does this idea that there are masses of undiscovered, cheap and brilliant players overseas come from? Along with the assumption they'll slot seamlessly into English Champ football? A lot of loose thinking engendered by Leicester's signing of Mahrez. Edit: A bit like the semi-mythical "lower-league gems" which were always being talked about a few years ago (in the wake of Vardy's rise). [Post edited 22 Aug 10:44]

Not sure if you're aware, but we just sold a benchwarmer to a Championship side for £10m, and they were four years old than McAteer with no resale value and in the last year of their contract. And actually, McAteer featured a lot more for Leicester in the Prem than Broadhead did for us. The fee is punchy but not exactly outrageous in this market. On your second point, we signed Jaden from Villa, big surprise to them that they're a Championship side. Greaves and Clarke aren't "rubbish" either. They struggled in the Prem, as did most of our players, as did the other promoted sides, but they aren't rubbish.

This window.. on 10:11 - Aug 22 with 1394 views | Everydayblue | And yet, he hasn't even kicked a ball for us yet..... He hasn't played under KM, yet...... Think we have to ignore the price tag. Fees rise every season. Next season will be even higher fees for parachute clubs. This looks a solid, safe gamble to me... Lad knows the division, has a set of attributes that fit the task, no language barriers, no cultural barriers. Should settle quickly into the squad with friends already here. Might take a game or three to get right into the tactics and team mate understanding. Hope fans stay off his back while he settles. No, I'm not pi55ed off..... Compared to our last promotion winning side. KM is absolutely tooled up. With more to come.

Its poker chips. Also what's the downside risk on 23 year old British players like McAteer for £11.5m? He plays a bit part for 2 seasons and we sell him at 25 for £9m to Wrexham. Its the ridiculous market we're operating in.

This window.. on 12:54 - Aug 22 with 830 views | RobTheMonk | Kipre - Highly regarded centre back at this level. Matusiwa - Strong midfield enforcer which we needed. 4-5 years at Ligue 1 level. Cajuste - Excellent footballer. Button - Third choice, experienced goalkeeper that will also act as a coach. Young - Very experienced. View to a probable coaching position. Akpom - Good player at this level. McAteer - I think this is a shrewd signing at this level. The price makes peoples eyes pop, but the Broadhead fee mostly covers it. And there's still 10 days of the window left where a lot of movement always happens. We're in the age of instant gratification and it's bleeding into fans desires for newer and better. McAteer hasn't even kicked a ball for us yet and is already being written off. New system, surroundings and management team might really help push him on.
