Ashton and the recruitment team yet ??
What an appalling transfer window this has been
The club have known about Delap leaving for months, yet here we are relying on an over rated Hirst and Ali 😂😂😂

You can criticise who you want when you want, many won’t agree with you though.

You are right though it has been bit of a mare this window thus far.

All the pieces of the puzzle should have been in place pre season, giving the players time to Gel.

I don’t really understand why fans feel it necessary to criticise a transfer window? None of us are in the room, none of us influence identification, buying and selling of players.

What is it we would be criticising, our own expectations of something we don’t control?

Individually you can criticise all you like if that makes you happy! but it doesn’t mean it makes any difference nor that people will agree with you!

In my view the transfer window is better fully assessed at worst once it’s closed, at best in May when we know how the new players settled and performed.

I think it’s fair and reasonable to have hoped to conclude business earlier and I am sure the club will always look at why that wasn’t possible but it doesn’t mean that’s failure. We have a great squad, we still have a few positions we would like to strengthen with the right players as they become available.

There are gaps in the squad in vital areas and if they are not addressed in the next week then we wont be going up. There are unbalanced parts of the squad too and several players are not be utilised properly, or are not fully commited to the project. Your assessment is way too rosey - I think you will be in for a shock in the coming months, unless the next week or so is ultra productive.

We can criticise the planning, the vision, the strategy now, and the execution too.

In the context of how poor the previous two were in terms of value, there is a theme.

There’s obvious quality, and Mir will no doubt arrive, but we spent £170 million or thereabouts, probably more by the end of the week…, and we might be well behind the team that cost us £10 million.

Mark Ashton isn’t Paul Barber is he…, that much is obvious.

It’s like they aren’t even doing the same role, the gulf is so vast.

Although Gamechanger aren’t Tony Bloom either and that’s also part of the problem.

We are run like we were under Evans, trust one or two people and prey! …, with slightly better outcomes in one season this time…, it was a product of our strategic geniois though, we now know that much…, an expensive way to find out…, will be consequences for a long time now.

I think we should reserve judgement on Ashton’s recruitment until the window closes. It’s obviously not gone to plan and we would have wanted more players in pre season but he may still pull a rabbit out if the hat by this time next week.

The buck stops with McKenna. We spent last summer supposedly recruiting & paying highly for top Championship players & have added the likes of Matusiwa, McAteer & Akpom. The squad we have should be capable of challenging for automatic promotion or, at worst, the play offs. McKenna chose these players, but so far they don't look remotely like the team they should be.I don't see how Ashton is a big issue - he gets the deals done, he doesn't choose the players who come in or leave.

I know you don't like the idea of him being Chairman and CEO at the same time but the owners are the effective check on him and I'm sure they will be in contact with him fairly regularly through this process - particularly as they sign off on the larger financial commitments.

How about some context? McAteer only arrived the other day and came on as a sub. Akpom has had little more time with the squad. You expect these players to be up-to-speed already?!

You also fail to mention the players we've lost.

Our inspirational captain - a player who would lift the team and pull them up the pitch. With Morsy still here we'd have more points from these opening games.

Then we have Delap and Omari - our star striker and most creative player - gone.

Then we have Tuanzebe - arguably our best defender - gone.

Burns still out, Ogbene coming back from injured, Broady gone. We've also not finished replacing these, or we have players not up to speed with McKennaball.
The spine has been ripped out and we're 'making do' at the moment.

These are the reasons we're not firing and clicking yet.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

We’ve barely seen the players that joined in this window. Azor has played the most and looked decent. I’d actually say the previous 2 windows were the problem- those are the players who’ve been with us some time and still not performing (Clarke, Johnson, Greaves) and others who’ve shown only glimpses (Szmodics, Jaden, Ogbene).

On paper we are way stronger than the L1 promoted team, but certainly not in terms of performances or results.

You are welcome to criticise or question the manager and Chairman at any time. As are the players, I'm sure most of us know about the cup final with the players telling Bobby Robson he should pick Roger Osbourne over Colin Viljeon.

However please do it in a respectful manner and refrain from calling players overrated. Also can we please stop with the "bedwetter" name calling? We're better than this!

Only thing I've wondered. And not saying at all it would have changed anything btw.

But did we sell delap to soon?

Seeing these clubs having issues with strikers... could we perhaps have ended up with a large bidding war.. ( I cant remember if his relegation clause was actually met as chelsea paid less than his clause didn't they?

Until you witness what is or isn't being done in the boardroom, I would suggest not. You are of course allowed, but not really a good look.
Of the players already recruited, you fill your boots.

I think that arguably the experience of losing almost every week in the PL means that Town have lost their winning mentality. The signings from last summer have only known struggle & defeats while at Town.

Chelsea met the release clause, there was no way to get out of that one. You're thinking of the reported initial payment of £20m - which is (from what I understand) actually quite a generous proportion to get up front.
