What changed with our international recruitment? 14:32 - Aug 26 with 2290 views | SheffordBlue | So far this summer we've gone from virtually zero international recruitment (I think Cajuste was originally offered to us rather than the other way around) to deals being done (or seriously progressed) with: Ligue 1 – Stade Rennais. Ligue 2 – Stade Reims Serie A – Napoli, Como Eredivisie – Ajax Liga MX – Toluca, Club America Superliga – FC Nordsjaelland I'm not sure many of us would have thought it would have happened to this extent. So what changed? I know we increased our scouting capability a bit. Personally not convinced this is just getting access back to the Brighton data as many of these deals are months and sometimes years in the scouting/finalising.

What evidence is there to suggest we are 'stumbling' around? I would say that we have been successful with some of our targets and not with others but hardly stumbling.

Its doesnt really feel like we are unearthing any talent that would take an expert recruitment team. Cajustes mate. Ex Wigan CB. Former Boro player and champ top scorer. Thats the only foreign talent we have landed so far.

Yes , stumbling about. There doesn’t seem to be a great system in place unearthing these signings so far. They have a guy working at Crystal Palace who bleeds blue and white, knows the scouting system well now. Get him on board here, pay him a decent wage and let him help set up a network. I’m sure he would be very interested.

I mean, you've rather glaringly forgotten Matsi but hey. Stumbling: to find or encounter by chance That isn't the case for any of our signings.

The discussion was about scouting, it's not just about who we land but who we chase. Marcel Ruiz, Ivan Azon, Sandre Walle Egeli, Sebastian Caceres have all received bids as well.

Fair do's but how about all the other 'foreign' players we have bid on? Again, hardly stumbling fella. There's a 'big' difference between what we are doing this year compared to last year or the year before. We might not be landing all the targets we want, but we are def fishing in a different pond.

I also thought that when we did begin to recruit internationally we might be looking at one or two markets to start off with and then progress e.g. a focus on France or the Scandinavian leagues. We've actually gone quite widespread in a number of different leagues/areas which must be taking quite a bit of effort. I wonder if as well as our own scouting/connections network if we've contracted some of it out to other people to do the stuff on the ground.

I agree, its an improvement and encouraging. Not blown away yet. Rightly or wrongly, I will judge the recruitment team on who they deliver, not who they bid on.
