Here’s where I am with the current situation 21:54 - Aug 30 with 2786 views | MattinLondon | Nobody has asked me for my thoughts regarding where we’re at but that won’t stop me from posting. Ok, after four games the points tally and style of play is underwhelming. The team seem to have lost their spark, creativity and willingness to take chances. I do think that using the ‘time to gel’ excuse isn’t really applicable to high level professional football as they should have the footballing intelligence to learn quickly off one another. However, seasons can be ignited by that one spark and I do think that today’s late late drama might well provide it. Almost two weeks off now for the players to work together and to form some sort of more cohesive unit. The next three league matches are important for everybody to lose anxiety as well as a lot of the negativity. The next three league matches need to produce nine points. Anyway, no one asked for my thoughts but that’s where I’m at.
Here’s where I am with the current situation on 21:58 - Aug 30 with 2450 views | pointofblue | I do think the atmospehere would have been horrible at the ground had we lost it. As it was, the over-riding emotion was relief. It could be a sliding doors moment in keeping the fans onside for a bit longer.

Here’s where I am with the current situation on 22:05 - Aug 30 with 2394 views | Nutkins_Return | I'd argue it's even more critical in high level professional football that teams need time to gel and. Build relationships, understanding and patterns of play. I remember Jon Nolan explaining how in L1/L2 a lot of the coaching and play is on the cuff (so I think lower down you it's probably easier). I think as you move up the divisions the attention detail and intricate build up/patterns of play/systems and drawing pressure (risk/reward) etc etc is much higher. Teams need time. You saw it with our rebuild 1st season in L1 and how we grew the longer the team were together. At the highest level Liverpool have been a great example with the continuity they built. Anyway as you say two weeks for those not away to spend on the training ground and working together to become the cohesive unit. [Post edited 30 Aug 22:16]

Here’s where I am with the current situation on 22:19 - Aug 30 with 2293 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | If it was a last minute winner after a disjointed performance this would have some validity. Maybe those there can tell me differently but IMO there’s no spark about grabbing a draw with Derby at home when you were 1-0 up at HT and absolutely desperate for a home win. Of course it’s better than losing but you’re overdoing it. Birmingham was a sneaky good result but contextually this was a shocker if we are being honest and just heaps more pressure on us. Especially true when, once again we were creating so little from open play against a spoiler type of team.

Here’s where I am with the current situation on 22:29 - Aug 30 with 2222 views | bsw72 | 18 months ago we would have won that game, 6 months ago we would have lost it. Today we showed the fight to salvage a point and without the poor refereeing we would have won it. Not getting the first penalty which could have put us 2-1 up again was pivotal and affected the players a lot. There was a more to be positive about today from some of the play today but especially the spirit, compared to Preston and Brum performances. I’m not as down on the team as some on here appear to be.
Here’s where I am with the current situation on 22:41 - Aug 30 with 2130 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | We looked lethargic, lacked urgency, and utterly predictable. I’m not seeing performance progression from game to game which is concerning. We are so slow and unwilling to take players on which is why we are struggling for open play goals. Player turnover doesn’t cut it for me given Southampton have seen 22 out and basically rebuilt their team. I still think KM can turn it round, he’s a great coach - but we need to improve rapidly otherwise we’ll be adrift. Today was the first time in about 3 years there was genuine disgruntlement amongst the fans. Despite the gamesmanship from Derby we’ve spent over 150m in the last 18 months and not looked better for it.
Here’s where I am with the current situation on 22:50 - Aug 30 with 2078 views | ITFCSG | As I had mentioned to some after the game, the goodwill of McK, MA & Co for the back-to-back promotions is fast running out if the rubbish performances do not see an uptick asap. With out new signings in the squad after the International break any more of this clueless, toothless tippy tappy sideways and backwards play with zero sense of urgency will stoke further discontent in the stands. Today few grumbles were already heard. Continue with this and I won't be surprised to see a repeat of the scenes at The Valley or Liberty Stadium.

Quite simply you can't spend over 200 million and be 5th bottom of the champ. 8 points off top.

Here’s where I am with the current situation on 23:08 - Aug 30 with 1976 views | RegencyBlue | For me a lot of the problem is confidence, or rather lack of it. I thought we started slowly but as the first half went on got more into the game and played some decent stuff for the last 15 minutes or so. We started the second half OK but as soon as they scored the penalty you could see the confidence drain from our players. The rest of the half was exactly the same as Preston last week, lots of possession but no cutting edge. At present this team looks horribly short of goals, hopefully the new signings and two weeks on the training pitch will help to sort that. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

AFTER 4 GAMES. And that with a lot of that spend having not even played yet. Really, when did people lose their sense of patience and perspective?

Here’s where I am with the current situation on 23:22 - Aug 30 with 1880 views | PioneerBlue | Everything will be ok in the end. We’ve all seen the movie several times. It doesn’t matter when you pick up points as long as you get them and if we don’t it will be MA and KMck that have to answer the questions over how we came into the season so muddled that it too until in Sept or later to get going. The key thing here isn’t for fans to flip out, we need to bring support for the process and not look too far ahead, the pressure to perform comes from the Owners, the CEO, and KMck himself. Let’s also recognise we are in a privileged position with this squad and whether it’s this year or next we are part of creating the environment in which they can win games.

There's still patience etc. But our recruitment was basically if we get relegated it's OK we will be fine yet find ourselves 5th bottom no goals from open play yet. It's far from panic stations. But also its OK to say it's quite embarrassing considering our spend.

Nothing going on. Just saying it's a lot of money spent and the start hasn't been great considering the spends said earlier. November really is the month of understanding where we are at exactly

Nolan could ne right. But isn't that the issue, we have become so rigid and unimaginative as we are so much trying to keep to rehearsed tactics and patterns that we are not doing anything unusual or unexpected that might just alarm or suprise the opposition. We played with more freedom in div 1 and Champ, the players enjoyed the freedom and responded to the chance to freely express themseves with their football. The responsibility given to tem allowed them to reach unexpected heights in their own personal development; confidence and comptence-wise. I fear McK is becoming his own worst enemy with his school-master approach, which ironically was his nickname at Utd.

Problem is imo is KM is playing chess whilst other clubs are playing draughts. Patterns of play can only happen if the opponents make a move. If they play a simple game you can't put into practice what you've been training on because the opponents aren't doing what you want them to do. Pretty much why town have even in promotional campaigns struggled against a low block.

Will the same people ask for patience if we are ever 20 points off the top 2? We have to at least stay in touch through this transition. Also far too many people pretending like it’s just us going through this, it worries me.

Here’s where I am with the current situation on 01:07 - Aug 31 with 1279 views | ArnoldMoorhen | From about the 15th minute to the end of the First Half we played some lovely football. Cajuste and Chaplin have a level of football intelligence that others on the team don't. And in the last 10 minutes or so of the 90, plus the injury time, I was encouraged by Azon's contribution (he "made" the penalty by hustling to win a ball he was second-favourite for, and laying it off to Clarke) and thought Akpom had a couple of nice flashes, too. Reasons to be cheerful: one, two, three, for me. In would be happier with a dominant goalkeeper, mind. I thought Palmer could have done more for both goals.

Have we spent a net of £200m though? You're very handily forgetting that we've sold a number of players included in that figure you quote and made a good profit on those. You'd make a good headline writer for a red top newspaper 😂

There was a lot of “gee, shucks, look at us, little ol Ipswich in the prem” attitude last season (at least in the first half of the season) and I think that’s dangerous and some of that is seeping in this season; some.think it’s sacrilege to even question what’s going on. We’ve been ineffective in five games now, haven’t won any of them, and are missing creativity and connections all over the pitch. Do I think KM can turn it around? Absolutely yes. Have we signed some good players, also yes. Will be go on a run and make top six? Let’s bloody hope so.

Yeah easy to keep preaching patience but I wonder if any team has not won in their first 4 league games and got automatically promoted. We don’t just need a win we need to on a run once we get our first.
