Think McKenna wants to play a more physical/faster player in that central role as a second striker rather than a floaty 10, which suits Akpom and Szmodics more. Also think he wants proper width from his wider attackers too. |  | | |

IMO wasn't a Mckenna signing and was just part of a batch of top of the championship stat talent pool we were signing with our prem money

You could add Clarke to that as well. Neither suit Mckennas football. Square pegs in round holes. Why we purchased either to not then play to their strengths was a stupid idea. Mckennas is too stubborn to play them how they need to play. They will never suit his system. |  | | |

Clarke is the one who really jumps out. How hard could it have been to foresee that a player who had his best season playing with chalk on his boots would get in the way of how we use Leif? Even I can spot that. | |

I think that's an accusation that no-one is making, but you could have commonly read in the national press that they supposed we were busy assembling a squad for this year rather than last. If there were a glimmer of truth in that, no manager would have owned to it, but chosen rather to be economical with the truth, which is not usually classified as lying. | |

Clarke doesn't get in Leif's way anywhere near as much as Philogene who just slows everything down and leaves Leif with no option but to drift inside. |  |

Economical with the truth is telling lies in my view. Ashton and McKenna described the process more than once. If that is not the process, they lied.

Do you have priveleged info that this injury is serious/long term? Because that would contradict what SS himself has said about it ("fingers crossed it's nothing to serious").

I don't doubt he has, but that doesn't reveal anything about who he might have wanted, and who he might have had to settle for. Just as the firm for whom one works has no total responsibility to divulge all internal workings to employees, so Ashton et al can tell us as much as they feel ought to be brought into the publuc domain, and withold whatever else they deem fit. This is just common practice and is not usually seen as lying but merely, as the phrase has it "being economical...etc". Neither you nor I nor Frimmers knows what didn't work out for the Town bosses, only, what did. No lies were told, nor insinuated. It was just real-world realpolitik. | |
